Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1: Windows Logo
Anonymous Posted on Feb 08, 2010

My Internet Explorer (1st version) is not connecting, but Firefox is even though there is internet connection. Explorer keeps on telling me that "Web Proxy" is not set up to establish a connection port "5555" with this computer." I don't know what's wrong with the proxy server. Another thing that the side gadgets on Windows Vista gadgets (daily horoscopes, language translators, and weather reports) aren't getting connection that they're not getting any data and their websites are working perfectly. I do have some viruses , but I'm not sure they're the problem. Another is how do i get back the internet explorer icon? i accidentally deleted it.

FIRST, Make sure you have the operating system restore or a copy of the operating system installation CD or DVD.
SECOND, download and run a full virus scan. To try to remove traces of the virus. Once your system is comprised you have no guarantee that a virus will re submerge.
THIRD, Back up all of your data, ie My Documtents, Favorites, Desktop, to blank CD or DVD. DO NOT BACKUP ANY EXECUTABLES.
FOURTH, Format and re-install the operating system. Return your backups as needed.

Testimonial: "I find your solution very helpful, but i cant find the installation CD and my virus scans wont get rid of every virus since it keeps on failing"

I am trying to view videos on youtube however, the site loads, the thumb nails load, when i click on the videos i get a blank black box.. no videos load no matter which i click on, i tried updated my flash...

I had a similar problem with my Windows XP which wouldn't support a late enough Internet Explorer and I couldn't use Chrome because my hardware was too old so I used the Firefox browser. It seems Firefox needs a different version of Flash Player. My Internet Explorer was using Flash and for some reason I don't understand that prevented Flash downloading properly or working with Firefox even though several times I uninstalled and reloaded it.
Troubleshooter said to make sure Flash was enabled in the browser options.

HI lately for some reason one of my computers that have mozilla firefox wont load the firefox start page or anyother page. Also it keep saying problem loading page and that my internet may not be connected...

Hi,

Is this problem happening on Internet Explorer as well?
Also, what version of Firefox are you running?
If it's not happening in Internet Explorer, please do the following:
1. In Firefox, click Tools->addons, then click the disable button for every addon that you see.
2. On the same addon window, click the Plugins icon, and disable all plugins.
3. Click Tools->options->advanced tab, then click the Network tab, and click the "clear now" button to empty the browser cache. Then restart Firefox and let us know if the issue was resolved.

Every time i go onto the zoosk web site it keeps telling me to upgrade my browser which i dont understand & cant seem to get rid of

Most modern web sites require a newer version of a "web browser" in order to ensure that all of the features of the web site work correctly. You are probably using an old version of "Internet Explorer" which is the web browser built in to Windows.
If you are using Microsoft Windows XP or newer, you should visit: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/downloads/ie-8 and download an install Internet Explorer 8.
If you have an older version of Windows, the alternate "Firefox" browser can get downloaded from http://getfirefox.com. When you install that, click on the "Firefox" icon to access web sites like Zoosk that need a newer browser.
If you are running very old Windows system like Windows 98, you may not be able to get rid of the message and should consider getting a newer computer.

Yahoo messenger automatically shut down

Please upgrade first the version of your Windows Internet Explorer. The connection of Yahoo Messenger rely on Internet Explorer.

If you are using different web browser like Mozilla Firefox, It doesn't matter. Just install Internet Explorer 8 compatible with your operating system and do not default it as your browser.

Do this and you will find it easy to access your yahoo Messenger in just a second.

Here is the link for downloading Internet Explorer version 8. Select the operating system you are currently use.http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/worldwide-sites.aspx

After installing the IE8 and Yahoo Messenger 10, restart your computer.

Please comeback after establishing your Yahoo Messenger connection and give me some rating.

Thank You for using Fixya.

Internet explorer keeps telling me cannot display webpage

First check whether you are connected to the internet through a proxy or directly. Then check internet option connection lan setting option maybe those should be kept to automatic or point to the right server. Then in the internet explorer go to the internet option , advanced and click reset button that should do the trick. Also if this doesnot work download firefox and install it. when you can see pages in firefox that means everything is okay and it is problem with the browser. replace your browser with new ie8 and thats all

When i try to log in it says "internet explorer not available"

Hi,

If you are using IE - Clear the cache and cookies. Make sure you have the updated Version. Even if you are using Firefox or Safari, you need to have the updated Version. Clear the History, logs and cache from the browser.

If you do not know, how to clear it, let me know. You need to tell me the browser and the Version. You can swap the browser. If you are not using Firefox, Download Firefox and install and use it. Check if that could fix the issue.

Make sure you need to Turn off the Firewall for few minutes till you check this and also make sure, you have a Valid Internet Connection :).

Let me know the update.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
