Error code F 23 indicates the control detected a problem with the communication link or can be generated as a result of irregularities in the power supply or usage.
The error code F23 can often be resolved by removing power to the appliance for a minute and then restoring the power.
By unplugging the appliance it allows the control to receive a fresh supply of power. This in turn will clear the controls memory of any irregularities it may have received from the power supply. Once refreshed the error should no longer be displayed.
Unplug the unit or turn the circuit breaker off for 60 seconds.
Restore the power to the appliance by plugging it back in or turning the circuit breaker back on.
Check to see if the error code is still displayed on the range.
Run the appliance in the cycle that initially caused the error or attempt to turn on broiler.
If the error code is displayed, then service is needed. The unit should be inspected by a qualified appliance repair technician. Should you choose to use Sears, the number to schedule a repair tech is: Sears Repair Department 1-800-469-4663.
Hello,Please use the chart to determine which stove you have. You will have
to look at the model number. The first 3 numbers will be the series on
the chart. In most cases an F1 error would require replacement of the
electronic control. This part is commonly refered to as an EOC or ERC.
However this type of repair is usually reserved for repair specialists.

if lower element tests open with continuity meter then it for sure is bad. i would also check the wire ends that connect to the element and/or the control board, they could have loosened allowing a bad connection and low voltage to elementor burnt off.. most ovens do not use the broil element at all during the bake cycle, only during the broil cycle.. some however do utilize the broil element during baking, but at a lower wattage or something.. best of luck, ttfn
my kenmore model number 911-47699100 oven doesn't work. Everything except the oven and broil works--cleaning, all timers, start button, etc. All that happens when you push start is about every 30 seconds, two relays can be heard making and breaking kind of like a click then immediately a clack. No error codes appear. Replaced sensor but that didn't work. Any help would be appreciated.
How did you get it working again and what does F23 mean?
