Ice despenser I have a ice despenser that will not crush ice. The unit is designed to despense whole cubes when the blades turn one way and crush ice when the direction is changed. When the crushed ice position is selected the rotating blades jam and the drive unit makes a clicking sound. The despenser has been working fine up until I took the ice basket out to wash it. I don't beleive I damaged the basket in any way.

Thanks for responding so quickly. I have tried running the ice despenser with the door open and the unit workes fine for whole cubes. The problem is only for crushed ice. I watched the blades with the door open and they jam as soon as the ice gets into the crush cup. I aslo checked the drive unit and it looks fine. Thanks again for your help.

Will it still dispense the whole cube?theres a brass rod under yourice bucket, remove bucket and check that rod, should be spring loaded and have a little bit of action(youll see it move a flap in front of bucket as its twisted, if so make sure the bucket is being reinstlled correctly, try the dispensor w/o the bucket installed at all, open the door trip the switch with one hand and depress the plunger for both crushed and cubed and check for the motor to turn

Can't remove ice storage bin from Kitchenaid side by side

This units are prone to do this. Best way for me to tell you is to work ice bucket side to side. Then shut the freezer door and switch between the cube and crushed ice. Tap the dispenser lever just long enough to engage motor. Basically you are rocking the coupling back and fourth in the auger assembly. Will come loose but may take a bit.

Cannot get water out of front despenser but can get Ice

found that when I used the crushed ice option, the lines would freeze up. Cubes were ok. Take everything out, including the ice, and turn it off for about 12 hours. Then check to see if it works again. If not, wait a little longer to let it fully defrost. If it still does not work after 24 hours, then you might need service.

It despense water, but does not make ice

Either the water valve is bad or the icemaker is bad, assuming it is turned on.
Check the valve with the wires off with an ohmmeter.
If it shows continuity, the icemaker is bad.

My ice despenser has a switch for cubed and crushed ice. I have the switch on cubed and only crushed ice comes out

usually there is a device in the ice bucket that activates or deactivates for cubed or crushed..that is controled by another (stirup) behind the bucket, that may be frozen up, thaw the whole refer...then see what happens. It might be in the switch...as well, if so call some one

My ice maker is not despensing ice, but water works. It is a GE Monogram refridg. Water works, but when you change to ice, nothing happens. when it was acting up, all it would do is dispense crushed ice,...

Could you look on the bottom frame of your GE Monogram around the door frame and behind the fresh food section door seal for the model number? The problem most likely is in that control panel that you use to switch from crushed to cubes. Let me know, Sea Breeze

ICE MAKER

Sounds like you are not getting enough water into the ice maker tray. When the ice ejector removes the ice from the tray, it may be causing the ice to splinter which is the crushing you describe. The problems could be:

* The water inlet valve
* The ice maker water inlet is partially frozen in the freezer section
* There is a problem with the water line (kinked or partially obstructed)
* The timing mechanism for the inlet water valve isn't working correctly

Check #2 from the above list first
