Http://www.fixya.com/support/r3774047-solve_mp3_player_connection_problem <- check this tip posted here copy the address into a new window. This will explain about your problem. Then go to Control panel -> system -> Device Manager -> and see if you have a yellow question mark or other mark there, if you do, delete the device next to the yellow mark, then at the top right click the small computer icon and chose scan for changes. Then when it finds your device chose -> portable device click ok and see if your player is in my computer now.. see the tip for modes of conectivity w/ USB devices.

Rio se510 stuck on Reading old; Internal memory.

The Rio SE510 is a portable media player that was released several years ago. If you are encountering an issue where the device is stuck on "Reading old; Internal memory," it may indicate a problem with the device's firmware or software. Some possible solutions include:
  1. Reset the device: If your Rio SE510 is not responding, you can try resetting it by removing the battery and waiting for a few minutes before reinserting it.
  2. Update the firmware: If the issue is related to the device's firmware, you can try updating it to the latest version. You can usually download firmware updates from the manufacturer's website.
  3. Format the device: If the issue persists, you can try formatting the internal memory of the Rio SE510. This will erase all of the data on the device, so make sure to backup any important files before proceeding.
  4. Contact customer support: If none of the above solutions work, you may need to contact the manufacturer for further assistance.
Note: Keep in mind that the Rio SE510 is an older device and may not be supported by the manufacturer anymore. Additionally, the above solutions may not work if the device has hardware issues.

I believe all you need to do is go to SanDisk's website, under Downloads, then download the Firmware Updater: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1376
After installation of Sansa Firmware Updater
* Please make sure your Sansa player is in MSC mode before plugging it in.
* Plug in your Sansa player and it will automatically check for updates.

Common questions about the Sansa Updater

Q: What does the Sansa Firmware Updater do?
A: The Sansa Updater is an application that checks for the latest firmware updates then downloads and installs the firmware to your Sansa device. The Sansa Updater is NOT a firmware.

Q: Why do I need to install the Sansa Firmware Updater to download "firmwares"?
A: Once you install the Sansa Updater, you don't have to worry about which firmware to download for your device. Sansa Updater downloads and installs the right firmware for your Sansa device.

Q: Do I need to install the Sansa Firmware Updater everytime there's a new firmware?
A: No, once the Sansa Firmware Updater is installed, future firmware updates are done by just plugging in your device.

Q: What does a "firmware" do?
A: Firmwares contain miscelleneous bug fixes and enhancements.

Q: Which Sansa players is the Sansa Updater compatible with?
A: The e200, c200 and m200 series

Q: Should I "Open","Run" or "Save" when i click on "Download Sansa Firmware Updater"?
A: "Open" and "Run" would automatically start installing the software,. "Save" would save it to your computer and you can run it in the future. We suggest you "Open" or "Run" the installer.

Q: How to change to MSC mode:
A: On your Sansa device, press "menu" and go to "Settings" then "USB" choose "MSC"

Q: How to check for firmware version?:
A: On the e200 and c200, press "menu" and go to "Settings" then "Info"/ "System Info". For m200, press "menu" then "Information".

Does not recognize

Ahh - you have Vista! You MUST get the newer version of the software from www.usasupport.philips.com. Enter your model number and go to the "software & drivers" section. Download the updated version of the device/firmware manager. Once the Vista-compatible version of the software is installed, then you can go to the Update tab and the firmware upgrade that you need will be installed - you will not get the "your player's firmware is already up to date message."

you should not have had to install anything for the Zen to work on Vista. If you have installed any Creative software, remove it. Reboot, plug your player in, open Device Manager, and remove the device that shows up representing your player (completely uninstall it). Reboot again, and plug in your player. It should be recognized now.

If that still doesn't work, then boot your player into Recovery Mode, and perform both a Disk Cleanup and a Reformat. Reboot the player and try plugging it in again.
if it still doesn't try another computer and upload the latest firmware to it and then try it on your pc after firmware is loaded

http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/

try downloading the MP3 player recovery tool from Creative's website (the tool contains the latest firmware update available -- 1.15.03). Plug your ZV+ into your PC, run the program and let it update the firmware. Then format, reload your music and try it.

Rio s10

? Verify that the USB cable is securely inserted into the USB port on both the Rio Carbon and your computer. ? Connect the USB cable to a USB port on the back of your computer rather than to a USB port on the front of your computer. ? If using a USB hub, connect to a powered USB hub. Unpowered USB hubs may not work. ? Remove USB extension cables from the connection path. ? Disconnect other USB devices. ? Both Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) (or greater) and Windows Media Player 10 (WMP10) must be installed for your computer to detect a Rio Carbon set in MTP mode. ? If you do not want to install SP1 (or greater) and WMP10 on your computer you should disconnect the Rio Carbon and change the Transfer Mode setting to MSC mode. Good Luck
