WHY isn't MY TOMTOM CHARGING? It's BEEN PLUGged IN FOR 45 MINS.

Usually an old (or older) battery will no longer hold a charge ... or will only hold a small charge (that will let you run the GPS for only a few minutes).
Often, when the TomTom device is always connected to the charger (in a vehicle), where it charges every time the car is turned on, whether the TomTom is being used or not, the battery gets charged (partially or fully) often enough to use up the "maximum number of charge" cycles for the battery. Hence, it will no longer charge properly or hold a strong charge.
Like for all lithium batteries, it's better if your device is not always connected and being charged (whether you are or are not using it). The battery will last longer and it will still be able to hold a stronger charge.

Tom tom troubleshooting

Your GPS will "freeze" (i.e. stop and shut down) if / when the battery level is low on the TomTom. If you have plugged it in a power source to charge it and the battery indicator shows that it is fully charged ... and then, when you unplug it from the power source, it freezes after a short period of time, it is likely that the battery will no longer hold a good charge.
If it does that while the TomTom is plugged into a power source, it indicates that the battery does not hold a charge anymore.
If this is the case, you may wish to get the battery changed (at an authorized TomTom service center, or do it yourself ... after getting the appropriate replacement battery and the tools/kit, and instructions). Just remember to follow the (initial) charging instructions (after you get a new battery) ... to ensure that the battery will hold a good charge for a long time.
Or junk it and get a new TomTom.

It keeps freezing and battery wont charge

Usually when the battery doesn't hold a charge anymore (even if you've plugged it in to a power source for quite a long time), the device will not longer work ... i.e. it freezes or shuts down. That's because the GPS uses power from the battery and not from the AC power source (that is plugged in and charging the device).
Replacing the battery may bring it back to life ...

My tomtom not comeing on

First make sure your TomTom device (battery) is fully charged. Then press and hold down the ON/OFF button for a few seconds, until the device starts up. Sometimes, you may have to hold it down a lot longer ... like a minute or two .

Most of the people selling the batteries on eBay include a guide.

There's a youtube video of it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcbebExQmx8

After it is charge it will not turn on . i donot know if it has a battery probelom or something else.

the most common fault is that the battery is defective, they last about 2 years, less if they are run dead allot, longer if they are on the charger when not in use.

Tomtom 720 is not recharging and does not give the options when on home base

I would suspect a collapsed battery if it does not charge on its base.
Replace the battery, the life should be 2 years if used correctly. This means not plugging it to DC car power when starting engine. battery will collapse withing 6-12 months if you do
