Ice dispenser on Whirlpool refrigerator got jammed, so daughter tried to unjam and now the flap won't close all the way. It used to make a motor type sound to close the flap, now there is no noise and it's just loose. Is there a fix for this, I'm thinking something was jarred loose? It was working fine earlier today.

If nothing is blocking ager .. sounds like motor bad or something binding it up. If you took in out and cleaned all ice out and still dont work with no ice.. sounds like motor ..if it hums power is to motor

sounds like the water coming into the icemaker is spilling over or leaking into the ice despenser bucket.... check for ice build up or plugging of water chut into ice maker

First pull out the ice bucket and close the door. Set for cubed ice. Press the button for ice to come out and listen for a loud clunk noise. That is the sound of the solenoid. You can open the door, hold the light switch and press the button and watch for the solenoid moving up and down. Solenoid is at the back of the freezer in a little square opening where the rod on the ice bucket goes into. If that solenoid is moving ok then put the bucket back in while the solenoid is in the down position and cubes should work. If solenoid is not working then it will need to be replaced. Let me know what you find.

try removing the ice bin from unit, try using dispensor now, can you hear it turning now??? if so empty your ice bucket possible frozen water on bottom of bucket preventing auger from turning
