I replaced the cyan ink cartridge. The printer accepts that the cartridge is full but prints with no blue. I bought another new cartridge and have the same problem.

It sounds like you need a new print head. You can find them online for around $75.00 each. I've had very good luck with Precision Roller. Do a google search for "canon mp610 print head".

Cyan is the "blue/green" ink cartridge which is required to print in full color. Some printers stop working when one or more ink cartridges is empty. Get a complete set for some savings and for the next cartridge that gets empty. Printers are cheap now, it's the ink that gets costly.
I had the same problem and I finally FIXED IT.
I first tried replacing cartridges - no good, I then took the print head
out, dismantled it and washed every component, no good. I then noticed
that there were small streaks of blue on the paper when I tried to print
a blue image so I worked out that the blue ink is getting through, but
very slowly (yours might not be getting through at all but don?t worry
this should still fix it).
So I got a very thin pin and pushed it into the cyan pad on the print
head creating a thin channel for the ink. Tried to print again, perfect,
blue now working.
Hope this helps - remember, you do this AT YOUR OWN RISK, there is no
guarantee this will work for you, it worked for me but there is the
obvious risks that you may break your printer. I did it because it was
broken as far as I was concerned and I had nothing to lose if it broke
completely, you must make that choice yoursel
Your problem is the print head. You can buy one from Canon for about $95, or find them new from dealers on Ebay for $60 to $70. For a less expensive fix, try to remove the print head and clean it. (You don't need any tools, just remove the ink tanks and pull the print head forward and out. Over time, the receivers tend to get dry & crusted ink on them. Note that the inks used are fast drying inks to keep your pictures, etc. from smudging after you print them. Try not to use solvent. I use q-tips and hot water, then dry using another q-tip. If this does not work, there are commercial cleaning kits available for about $10. Short of that, your choice is to replace the print head or the printer itself. My i960 prints such good quality color prints and normal color printing, that I would fix it rather than replace the printer. I hope the easy cleaning does it for you!
Hi cmwierson, I would suggest you update your printer drivers, try this, follow instructions exactly as written:
Create a new folder on your desktop and name it newhpdrivers(substitute your manufacturer in new name). Un-intall printer and printer software completely. Go to manufacturers website and navigate to their drivers/downloads or support menu. Select your model, choose the relevant software and download to the new folder you created on your desktop(watch for the light yellow bar at the top of window viewing pane, click on this and choose – download file - . Power down your computer. Reconnect the printer to the computer and turn printer on. Power on pc. Windows will detect new hardware and ask if you have the manufacturers install cd or a location to check for install files. Direct the wizard to your new software, follow the rest of the setup instructions and your done.

I had the same problem, and after scouring around online for a few days, I learned that this is one of the biggest gripes about this printer. Basically, you're out of luck unless you replace EVERYTHING, even though you only want to print black (nuts, isn't it?). So I went out and bought all new color cartridges, and it STILL won't print. I think it's just a bad printer all around. :(
Some of Epson's cartridges went bad that way. It may be a bad cartridge. Get a new one, pull that one out and see what happens. If it works, call Epson for a refund. They had a class action suit for that type of thing, they lost and paid off. I would think they will help you right away.
