Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

Kenmore model 11072842100 Gas Dryer, just stopped heating up, heats a little then stops heating ? thermal fuse? ?? thanks

The thermal fuse dies and stays dead. No more power would be applied to the gas assembly if it melts. The dryer would still run thoughthemobilian_188.jpgthemobilian_189.jpgThe ignitor is either going to be good or bad no in between. The flames sensor can stick with age but this is rare, The bi-metal sometimes takes a while to reset on these but like I said it is a rarity. themobilian_190.jpgThese coils however are notorious for getting hot and quitting.

Does not get hot

As the clothes gently toss about inside the drum, a temperature control thermostatic disk regulates the heat. It is set for 160f for cotton and it mounts on the blower housing. As air is drawn into the drum and out the backside of the dryer the heat is regulated by this control. It sends 120 volts to the gas assembly. Right next to it is a fuse. The duct fuse is set to blow at 250f. Should that control fail to open and allow for heat to build to abnormally high temps. Note: the fuse will kill the heat source only on most dryer, the dryer will however continue to run. Lint and vent blockage can restrict the airflow and make the heat inside build to dangerous levels. The control thermostat powers up the heat for a minute then shuts down for a few minutes, then repeats this all throughout the drying process, the gas does not stay on! That would burn the clothes. If both of those items check ok and the dryer vent and lint has been cleaned, I next take a look at the gas assembly. I check the flame sensor first. If the flame sensor is open the ignitor will not glow. If that turns out to be good I next check the ignitor itself for continuity. If it turns out to be good I replace the coils. Those coils cannot be checked because they do not act up until energized. Sometimes the coils will work, get hot and fail, cool down and work again. I have some repair photos: HERE

Gas dryer Amana Model LGA30AW, rattling noise, no heat.

I was experiencing a similar problem. I just repaired mine yesterday, with the help of this web site. Remove the front bottom panel. The are two screws located on the bottom of the panel. They are there, just slightly hidden. Turn on dryer to heat. Look inside where the panel was. Wait a minute or two and you will see the igniter glow. After a minute or so you might hear a click and the gas valve will open to start flame. After a while flame will go out until it cycles again. If your igniter glows and you hear the rattling noise and then the igniter glow goes out and you have no flame, it might be your solenoid coils are bad. These are the two black round things located on top of the gas valve. Make sure your gas dryer is unplugged. There is a wire clip attached to each solenoid. Unplug them. I needed to pry them off carefully with a flat screwdriver. There is a metal bracket holding those two solenoids in. There are two screws that you will need to remove the bracket. Use a flashlight to see them. Slide them up and off the gas valve. One is a 2 prong and one is a 3 prong. I bought a new set for 26.75. Put the new ones back the same way as you took them off. The is little nips on the top of the solenoid that line back up with the holes of the top bracket when reassembling them. Plug your machine back in and turn on and watch to see if the ignitor glows again and watch for the flame. Put panel back on and enjoy dry hot clothes again. GOOD LUCK

Sounds like your not getting enough gas supply, there is a regulater that controls the flow of gas they can get carbon build-up and restrict the gas.You need to turn off your gas supply and unplug it,remove the regulator and clean the lines,or replace the part.

DRYER RUNS AND NO HEAT

Please tell me more as to what you have done to fix the problem.

Please check the following:

1. vent tube clear
2. lint trap/screen cleaned
3. thermostat control sensor operational
3. Flame overthrow sensor

Is your pilot light lit on your gas dryer? If it is, when turning on, does the burners fire up? If not, replace burner and control module.
