SOURCE: forgot pass key

I was having the same problem. I input 0000 several times and was about to murder my headset. I got crazy and lifted the headset so as to show and say "here is the device, you !@##$# " and input the 0000 again. And it worked!
So maybe all that was required was to bring the headset in level with the PS3 console the first time you are entering the passkey. please let me know if it worked for any of you guys.
I hope this will solve the problem.

SOURCE: I need a new battery

Even though you can use regular AAA batteries (that you would have to replace often), there is a huge convenience factor with using the charging cradle that comes with the Sony headset. A solution I found was that I ordered some 550 mAh AAA batteries through Ebay (they came from England and cost me $8 total for four batteries). To make them work in the Sony headset you MUST use the bottom part of the plastic battery holder piece (all you need to do is peel off the BP-HP550-11 label and the bottom half of the plastic battery holder piece slips off of the Sony batteries). Then just slip in the new AAA batteries into the plastic battery holder bottom and then insert into the headset. The reason why you must use the bottom of the battery holder plastic piece is because the plastic piece pushes on a little switch. This switch activates the charging mechanism to enable the cradle charger to charge the batteries.

NOTE: I am not an electronics expert so I do not know if there would be any problem using other rechargeable AAA batteries (with higher mAh ratings). So I decided to be safe than sorry and ordered the 550 mAh batteries through Ebay.

Hi Matthew,

With those headsets that think is a known issue.
If nothing happens when you hold down the answer button then the battery must be out (or the headset is faulty).
If you tried to plug it into a USB on a PC to charge it, and the red light does not stay on then I'm afraid it became faulty.
All you can do now is to get back to the retailer who sold it to you and get a replacement for it, or if the retailer cannot help you consider getting back to MadCatz requesting a replacement if it's still within warranty.

Hope it helps.

I just bought my madcatz headset from the shop. Charged it for 4 hours and the red LED turned off so I suppose it is charged. Then i go to the “Manage Bluetooth® Devices.” and go to the screen where...

The power button is not the right button to press.

Here is the steps I take:

1. Power on the headset
2. Have PS3 scan for new devices
3. Hit the tiny button that is next to the volume buttons on the top of the headset.
4. PS3 should recognize "8860" and ask for a passkey which is "0000" by default
5. Paired and ready to go

I have a madcatz headset, Well The Headset still working in the ps3, but today when i put it to charge doesnt want to charge anymore, and the USB cable looks perfect, i didnt dmged it or moved it. is weird

Seems you should order another cable from madcatz because your charging cable might of become faulty or you might want to change usb ports on the computer you are using.

From the manufacturer's site at http://www.madcatz.com/faq/default.asp?Action=Q&ID=146

9. Enter 0000 (four zeros) as the Pass Key and press X on OK

10. You should then be taken to a new screen stating: “Register completed”
