Will not play DVD

Hello,

Yes if you have a DVD ROM in your notebook but if it does you can use a external DVD ROM for you to able to watch DVD movies. And see to it that your notebook have install the software your External DVD player. Or you can also download a DVD movies in your notebook.

The best I can find is a slightly different part number 1 is SDR-08B1-S, 2 is SDRW-08D1S-U. The downloads are at Asus ;

Have you tried carefully cleaning the lens with a dry q-tip?

If it is a USB device, it will be compatible with Windows 7.
Plug it in, and let Windows "detect new hardware".

Most likely the drive letter that the drive is trying to use is assigned to another device. The links below will help you change the drive letter.

Depends what you want to do with it and what the OS is.

If Windows XP, you can burn to CD using OS but DVD needs Nero or similar to burn. Further, you will need DVD display software such as http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/products/dvd/Free-DVD-Player-Software.htm to watch DVDs.

I think Vista works native (untested) but Windows 7 has basic funtionality built right in.
