I am not sure if you are referring to the standard clean that the E8 requests. If that is the case the instruction are to press the rinse button for 5 seconds, until it asks you to remove the tray, then follow the instruction on the screen (they are normally, rinse, rinse, add tablet (should be Jura one) - add to powder shoot, then the process runs through.
If you are talking about de-scale then you should us the Jura de-scale tablets, but vinegar and biccarb can also do the trick.
Using white vinegar, clean the parts you can with a sponge. Then, put 8 oz of white vinegar in the water reservoir and run the machine through a cycle. Repeat. Now, run the usual amount of plain water through to rinse. Repeat. That should do it.
Regular cleaning in this fashion shoul keep scale from forming and inhibiting proper function of the machine, as well as clean any impurities from the brewing system and improve the taste of the brew.
The "Rivets" on the back are screw. Just grab them with a pair of pliers and turn counter clockwise.

Open the drawer and take out the box for the grounds. Run a rinse cycle and it should now go back into place.

Any luck yet.
Jura parts are hard to gain access to in the US. They'll offer to repair it all day long. But sell you parts.....not likely. There are some internet stores online in Europe that you may have to look at to get parts. Good luck and if you find a good store that will ship to the US, please let me know.

I am also experiencing error 8. This a great coffee maker but after several years of use following the normal cleaning instructions just isn't enough. I can hear the machine straining after making a cup. I want to clean all parts inside, I got the front off and can lift the top a little. However there are what looks like 4 rivets on the back 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom. I cannot see how to get the top off and am afraid of breaking it.
Do you have any instructions on how to do this? Or can you tell me how to get the top off?

One of the problems that I see with these units is the Grinder setting. Sometimes the grinder is set too fine for Dark and Oily beans. This setting will ( can) clog up the brew screen after less than 10 cups are brewed. Also, running the cleaning tablets through to create a clean starting point may help you. Try turning the grinder to a slightly coarser setting and try that.
