My nikon d70 says that file does not contain image data

Call Nikon they can fix it they ask you to send it to them and they tekk you how much you send it and they fix and mail it back it shouldnt cost that much nothing is broke.

this case will happen if you still have pictures on memory card and it hasn`t been formatted using the Nikon system

the solution is backup your files on memory card to PC/laptop, then reformat the memory card using Nikon menu

Your camera uses a different filing system than the other camera...they are not interchangeable.

Sorry for the long answer, but this is complicated.

Some photo editors will allow you to set them up to display the date on the photo.

HOWEVER on all digital cameras:

The date taken is part of the image data that is stored in the file, but not as part of the image. If you print directly from the D70, you can set the date and data to print in one of the menus, but this only applies if you print from the camera. There is no way to actually put the date on the image like there used to be in some film cameras. Since the "picture" is now just a set of computer data bits stored on a card, disk, or other medium, the actual picture is defined by the jpeg standard, which is part of the ANSI/ISO/IEC organization. A camera manufacturer could add an extra bit of hardware to generate some kind of laser mark on the digital sensor in the camera, but I'm not aware of any camera that has this. For sure, the D70 does not.

In the various softwares that you can buy to read the file, the information in the file (like the date) can be interpreted and printed any way the software is programmed, including putting it somewhere on the printed output.

Fixing a Dead Nikon D70 - Green Blinking Light My first-generation Nikon D70, which I bought the day it was released to the market a few years back, died on me a few months ago. Without a card in it, it won't start, and when you insert a CF card in the slot, the green data-access indicator flashes on and off. If I hold down the Menu button, the menu flashes on and off along with the green LED.
As it turns out, this is a known problem with the original Nikon D70 cameras, and Nikon USA has a service bulletin out on the camera body. They'll repair it free of charge.

It may be of your new SD card. Try with another SD card. It may not show you File contains No Image Data. -Lalith

Users of Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Mac OS 9.x may experience problems trying to download images from the Nikon D70 using Nikon View. Initial shipments of the D70 have the USB option in the "Set up" menu set to PTP - Picture Transfer Protocol. PTP is only compatible for downloading images with Windows XP and Mac OS X. To solve this issue please set the USB menu option to Mass Storage and then connect the camera to the computer. The D70's card will then mount like a removable disk and Nikon View will be able to transfer images

RAW NEF images from Nikon cameras are proprietary formatted raw data directly from the cameras's sensor. If the images are improperly transferred to the computer they will not be able to be opened and will give an "Unsupported File Format" warning. Macintosh OS X has an "Image Capture" application (found in: Hard Drive/Applications/)that can be used to transfer images. If "Image Capture" is used NEF files will be corrupted and will not be able to be read. Only Nikon View, or manually dragging images from the mounted card, should be used to transfer NEF's. To disable "Image Capture": Double-click to open the hard drive and then the "Applications" folder Double-click "Image Capture" From the "Image Capture" menu choose "Preferences..." In the "When a camera is connected" pop-up choose "No Application" Close the Preferences window and Quit Image Capture After disabling Image Capture, it will not launch when the camera is connected and you can use Nikon View to properly transfer NEF images.
