Hi
I found this in a forum you can try it see if it work for you.

To reset waste tank full error in MP730.

1. Hit the "menu": Key
2. Hit "Copy" Key
3. Hit "#" Key
4. Scroll thru the menu headings until you come to "Test Mode" - 12th heading
5. Hit the "3" button- this will bring up Eprom Clear
6. Hit "0" button
7. Hit the "Stop" button

Also I found this.

First Clean and Dry the Print Head:
I used a cotton swab dipped in 70% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol). Do not use too much alcohol.
Then dry the heads, again using dry cotton swab. Be careful not leave any cotton threads on the print heads.
Then I padded dry the spongy Ink Absorbers (one for black ink and the other for color ink) using
Separate cotton swabs for each absorber. Do not displace the absorbers. Or you can replace the ink absorbers at this point if you do not want to pad them dry.

Then Proceed to the Waste Tank Reset procedure below:

To reset waste tank full error in MP730.

1. Press the "menu": Key
2. Press "Copy" Key
3. Press "#" Key

4. Scroll thru the menu headings until you come to "Test Mode" - 12th heading or select (-) as a short-
cut to the last setting.
4a. Press “Set” and the display shows:
Test Mode [1] – [8]
CF-FH3 :WLD-11-02

4b. Press “8” and the display changes to:
Test Mode [1] – [8]
Please wait

***note*** you have to wait until the display changes

Then the display changes to:
8: PRINTER TEST
[2]---[8]

5. Then Press the "3" button and the display shows:

8 – 3 : EEPROM Clear

*** the display scrolls to [0] : INK COUNT
[1] : 2PURGE FLAG

6. Press "0" button – for INK COUNT
7. Press the "Stop" button
8. Press Off then On to set new changes.
9. Printer feeds a blank page after it is turned on again.

This should Reset the printer and remove the WRONG CARTRIDGE error and save you a few dollars.

Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I've done most of the pressing tests over and over for weeks.
Finally today I followed your instruction for most part. I played around somewhat with all the instructions but when I got EEPROM after pressing 3, I followed your directions pretty much, after hitting the on then off buttons the light went off. Did most of it when saying wait please and the stop several times followed by the on off and it finally stopped the flashing light and it was in copy mode again. I then went back to write down what I did and the flashing light started again so fiddled around some more and got it off again. That is why I am not sure what I did for fear of it resuming the alarm light again. Rather inconclusive on my part, but none the less it worked!! Thanks again! tessalee2

Canon BJC- 1000 LPT 1 printer. STATUS: the used ink tank is full. printer not performing.

HI,

Your printer has a built-in waste ink tank for the ink used during print head cleaning. As time goes by, the waste ink tank gradually fills. When the waste ink tank is nearly full, you should receive a "Waste ink warning" error when you print. Press the RESUME button on the printer to cancel the error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink tank becomes completely full, have the waste ink tank replaced.

It means waste ink pad full or nearly full. Reset waste ink counter using SSC ver 4.30. Find at indoreset.blogspot.com. Don' forget to replace pad, washing or extend outlite pipe to outside of printer.

Message "wasted ink tank near full" on Canon Multipass F80

Inkjet printers have a fibrous pad inside them that collects the waste ink from cleaning the print head. Over time, this pad fills up with ink and can no longer hold any more. When this occurs, the printer indicates a "waste ink tank full" error.

Replacing the waste ink absorption pads is something an authorized canon service facility can take care of for you. Once they are replaced, it'll be functional again.

Where is a waste ink i have error message says WASTE INK NEAR FULL help me on that, thanks

I have had this problem. There is a counter in your printer that must be reset to move on. The ink tank may not be full, but the counter estimates it is full (and maybe it is an instruction to you to buy a new Canon printer), and to actually empty the ink tank would be an uneconomical task. How do you do it, there are a number of helpers here so Google: MP730 waste ink near full.
