More information would help. What are you running the signal into the TV with? Coax? Separate video/audio? To test the set if you have a vcr hooked up or available to hook up, input it into the tuner input and play a tape. Set the tv to either channel 3 or 4 (whichever channel the output of the vcr is set for, this can be determined by checking the menu or a switch on the back if it is an older vcr). If your TV is ok you should be able to see the tape which is playing. If not, and you still have snow you probably need a new tuner in the set. Let me know if you need more help.

Tv has only snowy screen. Used the remote to

What to do if you have an all snowy picture (blue screen or the TV displays unusable signal-no signal or no sync)
1 – If you are using a digital cable box or satellite receiver (make sure it’s on) and be sure your TV is set for either CH3 or CH4 (which ever you usually view it on). If you usually view it through video inputs (video1 or 2 etc.) make sure the appropriate input is selected.
If you still don’t get a signal see if you get picture using the DVD or VCR (if available) if you do than plug the satellite or Dig. Box temporarily into the place of the DVD (unplug DVD) you may have to use some A/V cables (RCA yel./red/wht like the ones on the DVD) to hook to the tv from the sat./dig. box. If you get a signal then the sat./dig box is ok. If not the Sat./dig box is not sending a signal and is either defective or needs to be rebooted (unplug wait 5 min try again).
2 – If you are using standard cable or antenna (source) if possible check that the source is good by connecting to another TV. Otherwise try running the source into a VCR and then out to the TV using video inputs (RCA yel./red/wht like the ones on the DVD) and then selecting the appropriate input. Try seeing if the VCR plays using standard CH3 (or CH4)
If the VCR plays on video input but not when connected to CH3 (CH4) then the tuner of the TV may be defective – see if you can use the VCR to change channel using the VCR remote.

RCA D52W20 PROJECTION TV 5YRS OLD GET SNOWY SCREEN

A snowy picture usually means a bad ground connection somewhere in the chain. Normally when this happens the behavior will change depending upon the channel selected. Have you noticed this at all? If not, then the tuner will require service or replacement. Please update this with any additional patterns that you can find and hopefully I can narrow this down a bit more.

Thanks,
Dan

Bought a proscanlcd hdtv 32lb30Q unable to get cable signal

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, pls confirm if below is how it is wired using a coaxial cable and not 3cable RCA to RCA:
  • Charter Digital Cable > DVD/VCR > TV
If yes and your concern is snowy or no signal on the TV screen, might it be that you have to power OFF the DVD/VCR when selecting channels on the TV itself (including when channel setup is being done).

Alternately, you can tune the TV to channel 3 and let the DVD/VCR do the channel selections.

Pls post back results. Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

No movie picture

If you want to record from cable to your vcr the usual configuration is either cable to cable box, cable box to vcr, and vcr to tv. If you want to get rid of the snowy pictures, you can plug the cable box directly to the tv and separately to the vcr, and you can also plug the vcr into the tv. but the tv has to have two inputs
the best configuration will be the black, screw in, coaxial cable from the cable box to the television and the red, white and yellow RCA plugs from the cable box to the vcr in.
then the vcr our red whit and yellow cables to the back of the tv.
To watch vcr, switch the tv to video mode
to watch cable, switch tv to channel 3 or 4, depending on the cable service.
please let me know if you have questions.

1996 RCA Color TV model G27720tn

If you are on cable, first run the cable wire from the wall directly to the TV, eliminating any cable box and/or VCR. If channel 2 is snowy but the rest (especially 3-6) are clear, it is most certainly a cable problem and not a TV problem. The TV uses the exact same circuits for channel 2 to 6 (VHF-LOW) so if the tuner was bad and 2 was snowy, 3, 4, 5 and 6 would be snowy too. Bring a second TV into that room, disconnect the cable wire from the RCA and connect it to the second TV. Is channel 2 on the second TV as snowy as it was on the RCA?
