I have the same mic and I tried to do the same thing only for a cobra 29 . It wouldn't work no matter what I did so I got upset (pyssed) and smashed it into a hundred pieces. what a dummy I am.
This works for any mic. dont worry about color codes. look at the switches.. there will be a common on both poles of the d104.. those need to be tied together to grnd. pin 1 on mic . the others d104 on n/c side is your rx. pin 4... the n/o one will be your tx pin 3 the other n/o will be audio and will have a wire from the mic element also on that pole of the switch. pin 2..
OPEN IT UP THE SHORT MAY BE WERE THE 2 POWER WIRES COME TOGETHER AS THEY ENTER THE RADIO THIS HAPPENS ALOT OR DESOLDER ONE OF THE WIRES OFF THE CIRCUIT BOARD AND CHECK FOR A SHORT ON THE WIRES AGAIN THIS WILL TELL YOU ALOT IF IT IS THE WIRES OR IF IT IS ON THE CIRCUIT BOARD GOOD LUCK
