No steam My SV1000 steam cleaner will not make steam. It heats up, but I think the small portholes where the steam comes out are clogged up. Are parts available to change the steam line?

  • Anonymous Aug 22, 2008

I primed the line with a vinegar water solution (I used a straw filled with a half and half solution) into the pump through the inlet on the back of the unit and that seemed to solve the problem as well.

I'm going to start 'rinsing' the unit with a little V&W after I use it from now on. Be sure to empty the tank whenever you finish using the unit.

I used the straw to prime the lines and 50/50 mix of vinager and water and it worked perfectly. I then mixed the water container with the same mix and ran it through the system. All works fine now.

i did the same thing 50/50 water white vinegar, on steam. the pump ran and ran and after a minute or two, steam and then the spray worked too. Fantastic, no screwdrivers or disassembly required.

Anything that calls for water usage, its best to use distilled water instead of plain tap water. Then you eliminate the chance for calcium buildup. (steam mops, small water foutains, humidifiers, fog bowls, etc)

In my case, it was the water pump only that was clogged up. My hoses were clear, but the pump was not working at all.

I fixed it by removing both hoses from the pump and forcing some vinegar into it until it cleared out.

Take it apart, the heater is most likely plugged, use something small enough that you can put in the ports and clean them out. Once they are cleaned out, then use a mix of water and vineager, run that thru it for awhile to clean out the lines.

I used vinegar water solution half and half in water tank and put it on "steam" and after few minutes finally steam started coming out . Worked wonderfully.

On mine I had to disassemble the pump and clean the inside parts.
The piston had gotten some calcium build up on it and wasn't moving well.

Does this cleaner heat up the water for steam? It is called a steam cleaner, but I do not see anything about how to regulate the temperature of the water to make the steam and so no one gets burned.

Steam is steam is steam - it has a temperature of 212 degrees F and if you go any lower it is no longer steam - condenses back to water. Capiche? If you pressurize the steam you can then raise its temperature to a super heated condition. How do you think a pressure cooker works??????

Repair Polti VT Evolution steam cleaner doesn't work

Steam nozzle/lines are probably clogged. The minerals in the water will eventually clog up the system, you need to use only Distilled water whenever possible to eliminate as many minerals from the water as you can. If the screws are spinning and not coming out, you will have to pry up slightly on the cover the put pressure on the inner parts so they will come apart. Easiest way is to push something like an old credit card betwen the seams and pry up carefully. go slow and easy so you won't break anything.

Water heats up but no steam comes out

Make sure the nozzle where the steam comes out is not clogged. Minerals in tap water may clog it cause it's very small opening.

Everything is working as it should, but it doesn't steam

Minerals in the water may have solidified and clogged it. The vinegar is an acid which can help to dissolve and flush and rinse out the minerals.

Hi there,

Just a quick clarification please. Will the water not spray in both the attachment hose as well as the floor part? Or does it spray in one or the other. You suspect that it may have a clogged line, is the machine doing anything in particular that makes you think a clog?

Thanks,
CJ
