When I place a document to scan, and hit scan button , only part of the document surface is scanned. Why?I bought MP210 on Sept 7,2007
Please respond at [email protected]
First of all I have an Apple iMac running OSX 10.4.11 and a Canon MP210 All-In-One-Printer.
Every time a put a document in the scanner bed and scan it (in multiple programs mind you, image editor, preview, etc.), it scans an overview of the document but the actual scan button is grayed out.
How do I get this thing to scan and save?

It has comprehensive step by step procedures on how to scan a document/pictures and more. Just click on "Brochures and Manuals" then hit "Download" icon.
1. Install the MP Navigator EXsoftware located on the disc that came with the printer. 2. Go to Start > Programs > Canon Utilities > MP Navigator EX > MP Navigator EX. 3. Select Photos/Documents or Stack of Documents. 4. If Photos/Documents was selected, open the top of the scanner and place the document you wish to scan on the glass with the top facing to the left. If Stack of Documents was selected, flip the plastic tray open on the top of the printer and place the stack of papers in the tray. 5. Select the Document Type in the left pane, then click the Scan button. 6. The scanning process should start. When it's finished, select Save to save the document(s) as a JPEG, or select Save as PDF to save it in PDF format.
You can actually initiate a document scanning via the "Scan" button on the printer or by
alternately, by launching the MP Navigator EX software from your PC. Pressing the "Scan" button
will launch the same software.
In MP Navigator EX, you can specify the
type of original, change resolution, choose a format in which to save
the scan (TIFF, JPEG, PDF, BMP), and edit the resulting scans. Within
the custom scan tab, you can do advanced actions such as scanning
originals larger than the platen using stitch assist and scan into a
software program (such as Excel or Word). You can also attach scans to
e-mails or save them to your PC.

Point to Scan/Import and click Photos/Documents (Platen).
Place the document face-down on the platen, and select Document
Type.
Click Specify... and set the preferences as required.
Click Scan and it should start scanning When scanning is completed, the Scan Complete dialog box opens. Select Scan or Exit. Select Scan to scan the next document, or select Exit to end. When scanning is completed, the scanned image
appears in the Thumbnail List area.
Edit the scanned image as required.
Click Save or Save as PDF file.If you choose just Save and box will appear to specify the destination folder, file name and file type(usually images are .jpeg .jpg ;) ).
First, may I suggest that you should never place those type of documents in electronic form. Document theft is very easy to accomplish and you will be sending very personal descriptive information out in the open. Don't do it!
That said, any document that uses a light or mild blue text will not copied correctly because of the properties of blue ink.
Drivers licence's are designed to "blotch" the image when it is printed.
Again, I strongly urge you to reconsider the placing these documents in electronic form.
open the front cover on the printer , u should see a glass , place the document/picture , that u r lookin to scan face down , then , make sure the little display on the printer says : scan mode or should have scan button .
hit the start or the scan button to start the process ., (ensure u hav the correct printer drivers installed on ur computer ..
Maybe it wants you to hit a start button in the computer program, to start the computer receiving the scan. Try to get an owners manual, sometimes there's one in the install cd.
