If you're not hearing anything on playback on the camera, try pressing the up-arrow during playback to increase the volume. If you're not hearing anything on playback on a computer (and neither the viewer nor the computer are on mute) then something is broken on the camera, causing it not to record audio.
I cannot hear any microphone playback 2) Installing the driver software for it takes sound out of my computer my microphone seems to be fine because the green light comes on when i test it, but no playback in speaker when i record. I know im jus missing one little thing...can you help me?
One possible cause is that normal recording could not be performed because the heads were dirty at the time of recording. Clean the heads, and perform recording and playback again. If normal playback can be performed, the heads are clean. Before an important recording, be sure to conduct a test recording to make sure that normal recording can be performed.
≥If the heads become dirty soon after cleaning, the problem may be the tape. If so, try another cassette.
≥During playback, the picture or sound may be interrupted momentarily, but this is not a malfunction of the Camcorder. (One possible cause is that the playback is interrupted by dirt or dust that momentarily adheres to the heads.)
If the heads become dirty, “NEED HEAD CLEANING” appears during recording. During playback, moreover, the following symptoms appear. ≥Mosaic-like noise appears partially or the sound is interrupted. ≥Black or blue mosaic-like horizontal stripes appear.

On my handycam you have to hit the Volume + button while playing back. Everytime you playback it starts volume at zero and you have to volume up to hear anytime you playback.
What's happening is that the tape in the cassette is being chewed on one side by the camera's tape transporting mechanism during playback, hence the distorted image and sound. The mechanism might be damaged (misalignment) or just dirty. Try not to play other tapes on this unit because they will become permanently damaged. The best way is to find another camcorder (if cleaning does not help). Note that some old cassettes of long recording time will exhibit this behavior more often because of thinner tape used.
your tape guides are out of calibration on all
your pre - recorded tapes , or they are out of
adjustment ( maybe even loose ) now ;
- -
put your camcorder close , next to your ear ?
and . . . listen ! to a new tape in play mode -
if you hear a fluttering sound like a deck of
cards being shuffled softly , the camera is
damaging all your tapes and needs alignment ;
you need to check whether sound is ok tru av out leads ,or is it problem with no sound while trying to play back in camera as have seen a few of these with internal speakers going faulty.if you try it tru av leads you should have sound if this is the case
