Thank you for this help site... I am having the same question as DUANER who wrote in February 2008.. this is March 2008. I am on Central time in Texas and when the time changed to SPRING FORWARD the second hand began it's travel and stopped one hour off. Since then I have pressed the two buttons on the side of this Dakota Atomic Timepiece but when I can get the second hand to travel once again it chooses it's own place and time to stop. HOW DO I SET THIS LITTLE JEWEL? Please someone answer Duaner and me. Bill in Galveston, Texas

Same problem, just traveled from London to US, when we went the other way we did something that was impressive and made the watch jump the time difference.  Now we've come back and can't move the watch behind the 5 hrs.  Please help,

    Michael

I have a new for christmas radio controlled watch that hasn't changed either. Have tried all I can and there is no help at Dakota by phone either.

  • unclekeithy Mar 11, 2009

I live in northern New Jersey and my watch had not advanced with Daylight Savings Time. The web-site said to mail it in or go as far away as Moorestown NJ.I can't believe there isn't a store closer to reset my watch in this major metropolitan area 5 miles from NYC. I just received it for Christmas and only started using it on 2/23. Mine is on a fob,not my wrist. Tinman

If your watch displays the incorrect language for the day, the incorrect hour for set time zone, or incorrect minute

1. Hold down the S2 button for 3 seconds while the watch is in the normal time keeping mode until the Time Zone City (3 digit city code) starts to blink

2. Once the Time Zone City blinks Press S2 again to enter additional watch settings.

3. Press S2 again to display the day icon. If the setting is in German press S1 to change the setting to English, if the setting is in English press S1 to change the setting to German.

4. Press S2 again to display the hour set mode. In this mode the letter H will be displayed and a number will be blinking on the LCD screen. The watch works in 24 hour mode and the correct number that should be displayed is the actual hour for the set time zone. If this number is not correct, press S1 until the desired time is reached.

5. Press S2 again to enter the minute set mode. In this mode the letter M will be displayed and a number will be blinking on the LCD screen. Press S1 to enter your desired minute.

6. Press S2 again to enter the second re-calibration mode (see explanation below)

7. Press S2 again to exit the day/hour/minute/second set mode. The word WAIT will show on the LCD screen and the watch will reset itself to the desired time.

My On Time Atomic watch was shipped 1 hour ahead. How do I get it on the correct time?

You need to set the correct timezone. Your watch doesn't know where it is geographically so you need to set it manually.

How to set time on my National Geographic Dakota Atomic Watch?

For the national geographic radio controled watch.
The easiest way to rest this watch is to remove the battery.
Once replaced the watch will flash set to 12. Push and hold the upper button till the hands spin. Press this button again to stop the hands. Tapping the upper button will make the hands move forword 1 sec. Set all the hands to 12. becareful, if you pass 12 you will have to go around again. to start the hands spinning again press and hold the upper button untill the hands move. Once all the hands are at 12, press the lower button and the screen should flas LON for london. Set the city code using the upper button to your area. press the lower button hard to confirm the information. The watch should set itself to the correct time. If it starts running from 12, place it on the window sill for the night so that it can get a signal.

Atomic watch

You most likely don't have the Daylight Savings Time (DST) set to AUTO mode. Just hold the ADJUST button until the time starts blinking. Then hit MODE and DST will show on the top. Hit RECEIVE as needed until you see AUTO in the bottom. Then just hit ADJUST 2 more times and you're set.

These instructions are actually for my Casio G-Shock MTG-900 but I imagine they're very similar for most G-Shock atomic watches.
