Hooked up to a dell optiplex gx 520 with windows seven and when the computer is turned on ithe monitor says out of range
The default resolution for your video is set for some value the monitor can't support. You can try starting Windows in VGA mode. Press the F8 key several times when you turn the computer on and the manufacturer's logo screen appears. This will bring up the Windows startup menu and you can choose the VGA option. This starts Windows with video settings all monitors can handle so you can see your desktop. Then set some lower resolution and/or color depth. If you absolutely require the resolution your monitor can't handle, say for some game or graphics application, the only solution is to replace the monitor with one that can.
Make sure the cables are all connected properly.
Hope this helps!
