I have a Maytag Atlantis top load washer which leaks in the rear right hand corner under the discharge hose, how do I take the machine apart to get to the problem.

Sorry to confirm your suspisions but its leaking oil from the transmission and its exxxpensive to replace the transmission. And sad but true the good ole days of dependabilty of the maytag is gone espically since 5 years ago Maytag was bought by Whirlpool. a Whirlpool is a good machine but nothing was good as the old Maytag's
Mine the same concern, I took it apart and found the thermo fuse in the motor had a bad terminal. Maytag parts man said you must get a new motor even though the fuse has a part # on it and is easy to change. I made temporary repairs until I find a fuse from a used parts machine. Scott
Start by checking the belt by tilting the machine back and examining for wear, glazing and cracks, next pull the belt to make sure everything turns. Post back if this looks fine.
