Dell XPS M1530 Ethernet Issue

I have a Dell XPS M1530 running windows Vista 32bit.

If I plug the network cable I get my network drives, internet etc.
But if I close the lid and unplug power and network etc and move to another desk and plug network, power etc back in, I cannot get the network to connect, even if I restart the laptop, no network connection. I have to shut it down totally, and reboot the laptop to get it back

This has been a known issue with XPS M1530. You can try changing the power options for once. Try flashing your BIOS to version A12. If it still doesn't work, you may have to opt for replacing your motherboard.

Drivers missing off my dell xps m1530.

Hello you can always download for free here at DELL:

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/xps-m1530

Try also the service tag number here:

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriversHome/ShowProductSelector?fkey=Drivers_PS

In order to get the right drivers.

But first select your windows system.

Open the folder and download the driver.
You might have to unzip the file before you install it.

Here is not drivers for all windows systems, but the vista driver should work on windows 7.

Good luck

Dell xps m1530 with intel core duo keeps freezing

To further investigate the issue you may do the following.

1.go to control panel --> administrative tools then select event viewer. check on system logs. you might be able to find a clue on why the notebook keeps on freezing after 15 to 20 minutes.

2.please check your virus definitions if its fully updated. If not please update it then do a full scan afterwards.

3. do a windows update on your system if it's not fully updated yet.

4. You may also check or try to remember what has been installed lately. It might be that the application installed have caused vista to freeze.

Or you may also check this link for another user who has the same issue.

Windows vista laptop lost connection to the internet

Start off simple. Try a different port on the router. If that doesn't work, try a new cable. If that doesn't work, go to the Device Manager in Windows. (Right-click My Computer, select Manage, go to Device Manager). Does the card look okay? Has it been disabled or need a driver update? If we're still looking at issues then I would take a look at your router security. How many DHCP licences do you allowed to be assigned? Also do you have security in place (WEP/WPA, Mac Filtering, SSID Broadcast)? If you are light on security and only have a few assignable DHCP licences, you may have neighbors leeching your internet access.

To clarify: DHCP assigns a network IP address to each device on its network. Most Linkys routers have a default of 10, you may have reduced this yourself. If you have, you've limited the # of devices allowed on the network. So if you have 3 DHCP licenses available, and a couple neighbors are leeching, your Dell may not get assigned an ip.

If you still need further help, let me know.
