Hi Sharon. ALL Farberware coffee pots make racket. You have a pot that is made in China. When the water is hot the noise stops and it goes into keepwarm mode. As long as your water is hot 175 to 185 it is good. If you were trying to make coffee and you are not perking through the basket is another case. When you want to make coffee you MUST use the cone spring in the pump. That keeps the pump tight so the hot water goes up the pump. With out it the water just boils and does not go through the pump. Good luck. and if you want more info use [email protected] Ron

How to brew coffee

USING YOUR PERCOLATOR
1.Wash the Percolator thoroughly before using for the first time.
(See "Cleaning Instructions" section in this manual.)

2.Remove Cover, Basket, Spreader and Pump Tube. Use cold, fresh
tap water to fill Percolator. Fill according to markings on inside
of Percolator for number of cups desired. Use cold tap water -
the automatic brewing cycle is timed to begin with a cold
water start.
NOTE: The bottom of the Pump Tube Spring marks the maximum
capacity of the Percolator.

3.Wet Coffee Basket to help keep small particles of coffee from sift-
ing through. Place Basket on Pump Tube. Add desired amount of
regular or percolator grind coffee to Basket.

4.Place Pump Tube with Basket into Percolator so bottom of tube is
set into Center Well. Place Spreader on top of Basket and snap
Cover onto Percolator. Attach cord to Percolator and plug into
standard household 120 volt AC wall outlet. Brewing begins
within seconds and continues at a cup-a-minute speed

5.When coffee brewing is complete, percolating will stop. The
Percolator automatically switches to "KEEP WARM" setting to
preserve fresh-tasting coffee at hot, ready-to-serve temperature.
For best flavor, remove Coffee Basket, Spreader and Pump Tube
when brewing is completed.

Will not stop perculating

There is a thermostat in the bottom of the percolator that is broken. It would normally cut off the percolator heating element after the water reaches a certain temperature but it is broken. It can be replaced but it takes a little skill. There is a video on eBay.

How hot should the coffee be in a Farberware percolator

It should be about 180 degrees. The percolator should perc about one minute for each cup of coffee. If it stops too soon and the water is not hot, then the thermostat is bad. The thermostat can be replaced.

Old farberware percolator was working perfectly one day and next day it would not heat up or perk at all. Next day I plug it in and it turns on perfectly after 20 minutes if stone cold it just started...

If you look at the well in the bottom of the percolator where the stem fits, you will probably find it gotten coated with minerals that have built up over long use. This can reduce the percolator's performance. Lime-Away is a cleaning solution available at big-box home improvement places and hardware stores that can help dissolve the buildup. Pour some into the bottom of the percolator and let it sit a while. Then, while wearing gloves, stuff the well with steel wool and work it back and forth to scrub away the buildup. (Use plain steel wool, not a Brillo pad or other brand with soap. The soapy ones are too stiff. I also don't know if the soap and the Lime-Away will play nice together.) Rinse out the percolator and give it a wash, and the well should be much cleaner. You should find it works better. If you can't find Lime-Away you can use white vinegar, but it's not as effective on the built-up scale.

My faberware percolator is very seldom used and this morning after perculating the coffee. It poured out almost clear water. I have also noticed that the coffee is not as hot as original. I have had it...

Hi you have a China pot.

The problem is the keep warm element. The reason, your pot perc's and it gets hot near the thermo, the thermo turns off the main element. The keep warm element is not on so after a small amount of time the water cools and the thermo turns the main element back on again, thus making the water hot. The K W element is supposed to be on all the time the pot is plugged in, it is instrumental in perking the first brew making it really hot, the thermo turns off the main element and the K W element keeps the water hot. The K M element is very a easy fix, it is the small looking white rope that runs around the bottom of the pot. You have 1-nut and 1- screw to remove. When removing the screw from the main element you must hold the (leg) that the K M element is screwed to so it does not bend and brake off. Take your time and be firm with the pressure you apply to the screw, while holding it with a pliers good luck bobbyone

Hoover Maxi 6 TC50 Tumble Dryer making squealing noise

Have you fixed this problem? I also have a Hoover condenser dryer, only a few months old, and has started to make a squeal/whistle. I'm thinking it might be the front fan needing some WD40, OR too much water vapour around the belt that moves the drum causing the sounds.

If it's the fan, lubricating the shaft and its components should fix the problem, if a wet fan then I'd think maybe fully cleaning the condenser filter, reservoir ect will fix the problem.

The problem seems to go away though "mostly" 15 or so minutes after you start the dryer, so that makes me think ones it gets warm something is expanding to allow more "give" so maybe the belt.
