Cd player my cd player will play dvd 's and music, but when trying to load a game it will not read cd.

First, try playing a regular music CD and see if that works. Next step would be to get a laser lens cleaner disc and run that in the machine. They come in both CD and DVD styles. You most likely won't get a DVD version to work since it's not reading DVDs, but you might get lucky and get a CD version to work, thus the reason for trying a music CD in the player.

If the cleaning doesn't work, or you can't play a CD either, then something has most likely died. There are really only two things that could go wrong with a DVD player, either the spindle motor (spins the disc) dies, or the laser dies. Both are somewhat common problems on low-end electronics. They can be fixed, but with low-end units, like those made by Curtis, it would cost you less to toss it out and buy a new unit.

Yes it should be able to read any CD including music if you have software to play back music with. There is something wrong with the reading head on your CD player.

Try to play a music on cd instead of playing dvd. It it plays keep playing until playey got hot and drive off moisture on circuit. Let it cool down then try play dvd. If it can play severy dvd in sequence, then your unit is repaired. Keep using it to avoid condensation inside the dvd player.

Laser is probebly goin bad and can't read. try putting a music Cd in. If it can play the music CD but not the DVD it's the laser.

You can buy new DVD pickups online for about 15-20 It will take a very small phillips screwdriver and needlenose pliers to change out the old one

The unit can recognize that a disc has been loaded but can not read the contents. This can be as simple as a dirty lens or more drastic like failing optics. Try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that fails to correct the problem and a music CD will play OK, then the optics are failing. DVDs require more laser power to read than a music CD.

Hello I was looking to try and help you with your DVD player, we will start by loading a music cd store purchased, no burned cds please, if the cd loads and plays then your dvd player is either out of adjustment or going bad, most dvd players, i have worked on, will load and play a music cd, but will show loading errors when trying DVD's. If the music cd dosen't load then there could be an issue with the drive or tray. If the music cd plays just fine, then your laser is either out of adjustment or going bad. You can call the manufacuter to see if there is a process for resetting the DVD player, not all DVD players have this option, if resetting the DVD player dosen't work, but music cd's do then your laser lens is dirty or going bad. At this point you have three options 1) Take it to a repair shop, 2) Get an new one, 3) Get your hands dirty if your really handy and know what your doing to clean and replace the laser. If the DVD player will not read DVD-RW then you will not be able to play the music with your DVD player.

All DVD Players will read and play CD players

open your dvd player and check the flex cable that is connected to lens from module replace that flex but if he did not read again the cd try to replace the lens.
