My tv, just shut off! the screen does not turn on, and makes a squealing noise! what is wrong?

with TV on bring up the menu. If the menu screen is NOT affected, the DMD board should be fine. It menu is affected, DMD board is likely the reason.

Also check the color wheel, sometimes when they are going bad they will translate the wrong colors or even make a loud pop and shut TV down. If the bearing is going bad on color wheel, it can make a grinding/squealing kind of noises and sometimes even make the TV vibrate.

Im not a TV specialist. Just trying to help with what I have experienced with this set.

my 46'' inch tv polaroid lcd has been working fine for 3 years. today my wife and I noticed the tv is shutting off the screen will go black and the power light does switch to red. you can here something inside the t.v clicking but you can turn it on and it will start back fine for 20 minutes then shut off again? Does anybody know whats going out on the tv? let me know

It's in the repair shop. I'll write back what the problem was and how much it cost to ship.

have a tech check your flyback conection in side the set some times thay come loos during shipment.

I know exactly what is wrong with your TV I charge 315.00 in my shop to repair here i get paid 0$$$$
I get paid $50.00 up front to look at set and then determine what the problem is Defection board 125.00 plus 190.00 labor - 50.00 repair cost 265.00 plus tax SSB board 325.00 plus labor/ wondering can you solder if so start out by resoldering everything on Deflection board solder all pinns on Flyback transformer squealing noise is caused by coil in high voltage area LL037 resolder it then take glue gun and glue on top and around it. all so check second ribbon connector that feeds over to SSB board make sure it is installed good and there is 3 capacitors that go bad on same board 2200uf 16v two 220uf 35v located in front of board they are green with gold writing you can try all of this or order new Deflection board 1-800-648-6657 union electronics's

most likely the color wheel is faulty and will need to be changed. Does it make a squealing noise?

is the squealing noise from the back of ur set , if so it is ur flyback transformer

The squealing noise is a defective color wheel. When the color wheel does not get up to speed (or stay up to speed) the set will shut down with the blinking you describe. You need to replace your color wheel or have a tv shop replace your color wheel.

What has happened is that the horizontal output transistor has shorted. The squeal you hear is the power supply running under a heavy load. The picture narrowing or being distorted indicate that the horizontal output was not operating clean. Something in the output section was not as it should be. Possible short in the output transformer/tripler unit or something loading down the secondary voltages generated by the horizontal output. You will need a tech to figure this out....If you are not a tech, then this ones a goner as far as fix it at home goes.....If you are a tech I might be able to talk you through the repair. Have someone remove the horizontal output transistor and I bet the squeal goes away.
