I just need to know how to connect my VCR/DVD player to my television.

Component connections between your DVD player and TV (they will be colored red, blue, and green) carry video only. You will need to connect two more cables for left and right audio channels. The connectors for these audio cables will be colored white and red for left and white respectively.

It is hopeless if the television will not stop cycling through its channels. That is an unattended operation and may point to there being something really wrong with this television OR it may be one of the televisions that has to be fed a signal of some type in order to stop cycling through its channels.

First, how would you connect a dvd player to this television: You would have to buy a part that has yellow red and white holes on one side and a coax output on the other side. I bought one from my local drugstore a little while back. It is Philips brand, and it says connect any dvd player to any television right on the package. I don't know if they are sold anymore, but I imagine that some store would still have them. Then you would disconnect the vcr and connect that part there with the dvd player connected to it (the part I described).

Next, if your television is the sort that needs at least one channel to be programmed into it so it won't keep cycling them, you would have to connect a converter box where you have the vcr connected right now. I know, this troubleshooting takes work, and there is no way to tell if this will work.

Just connect the PS3 it also works as a DVD player. Do you really need a VCR player? You can get a converter box to stream the VCR footage through the DVD player/ PS3

The correct setup depends on whether you have a cable/satellite receiver and whether you want to record to and playback from the VCR. If you are using a cable/satellite receiver, this needs to be connected to both the TV and the DVD/VCR if you want to record. The DVD then needs to be connected to the TV via the video and audio out sockets on the back of the DVD/VCR for playback.

I can let you know exactly which connections to use and where they should all go, but I need to know the following details as otherwise I don't know which sockets/connect you have available.

1. Brand and model number of TV
2. Brand and model number of DVD/VCR
3. Brand and model number of any cable/satellite receiver if you are using one.

Please confirm these details and I will try to assist you further.

Connect as following
1. Set top box - RF cable from STB to antenna socket on TV.
2. DVD player output to Video1 on TV
3. VCR output to Video2 on TV.
May be you can route VCR through the DVD player or viceversa. That you can see and try on ground.

For this unit the component output (green, blue, and red cables) only work for the DVD player portion of it. You will need to connect either the av input on the back or the front with composite (yellow, red, and white cables) to your television in addition to the component cables I assume you have connected already. Once you have done so you will need to switch this unit over to the right av output in order to access the vcr and also switch your television over to the right av input in order to pick up the signal from the vcr.

Easy Answer! connect to composite cabels to the ports underneath the words "DVD/VCR Out" for a Coaxial, use either the component ports or connect a coaxial cable from the port labled RF Out to the one on your television.

This is a problem a lot of people have with coaxial-only televisions because DVD players do not have coaxial (RF) outputs, which means they can't be connected directly into a television with only a coaxial (RF) input. The solution is to purchase a RF modulator, which is a small device that will convert the AV output from the DVD player to coaxial (RF).
As for the instructions, I am going to assume the DVD player is not a combo unit with the VCR, and that you want to record TV on your VCR. Step 4 will include connecting your DVD player, but if the DVD player is a combo unit with the VCR, just ignore step 4 part as DVD connection will be included in the VCR set up. Actually, you wouldn't need the RF modulator if it is a VCD/DVD combo unit.

1. Connect the coaxial cable coming out from the wall to your digital cable box in the ‘video in’ slot. It might also be labeled ‘antenna in’ or ‘cable in’.
2. From the cable box, connect a coaxial or composite (yellow video cable) and stereo (red-white) RCA audio cables to the VIDEO IN terminal on your VCR.
3. From the VCR, you will have to connect this to the RF Modulator using a coaxial cable from the VIDEO OUT on the VCR to one of the IN ports on your RF modulator.
4. You can now connect your DVD player to the RF Modulator by using the yellow-red-white composite/RCA cables from the VIDEO OUT on the DVD player to another port on the RF modulator.
5. From the RF modulator, connect this unit to your TV by using a coaxial cable. It will be from the VIDEO OUT on the RF modulator to the VIDEO IN or CABLE or ANTENNA IN port on your television.

This should be all you need to get started watching your digital television. In simple terms here is what you did:
Coaxial from wall to cable box
Cable box to VCR
VCR to RF modulator
DVD player to RF Modulator
RF modulator to TV
You will only be able to record what is on channel
