Songs will not show up in the mp3 player!

Hello,

Transfers onto the m240 can be done in 2 USB connection modes:
MTP mode: Media Transfer Protocol using software, e.g. Windows Media Player 10 or higher.
MSC mode: Mass Storage Class using Windows Explorer, looking in "My Computer" viewing the player as a removable disk.

Typically, songs put onto the player in MSC mode can not be viewed in MTP mode and the other way around.

Switching to MSC mode in the player's menu:
Look in the player under Settings Menus > USB > select MSC for using the "copy and paste" or "drag and drop" method for transfers in "My Computer".
When Auto Detect is selected, it depends on the configuration of the computer, what setup for priority has been installed.

Forcing the player into MSC mode:
1. Turn device OFF.
2. Facing the hold switch slide it to the right so an orange color would show putting the device on Hold.
3. Connect the device to the PC.

It says in the user manual for C-100 sansa player that "various software packages are available to syncrhonize your songs on your device. Please refer to the specific software package instructions. "

I used Windows Media Player 9 and when you use these older Media Players you must remember to change your USB setting on your Sansa player to MSC. Turn on your Sansa Player, Choose the Main Menu and select settings. Don't choose auto-detect, but select MSC. If you choose auto-detect it will default to a setting called "MTP", and MTP wants Windows Media Player 10 to download your stuff.

I'm not familiar with how ITunes works, but perhaps AUTODETECT will work to synchronize your files.

1. Make sure you Windows Media Player 11 (Goto Help --> About WMP --> v??) 2. If you do not have it, install it from this location: http://www.microsoft.com/mediaplayer  3. Change the Mode on Device: Go into Menu --> Settings --> USB Mode:Auto Detect/MTP/MSC  4. Select MSC and it should work. If it does not try Powercycling your device (turn it off and then turn it on). 5. Try other modes as well.

To delete songs from your device follow the steps below
You have to make sure that the device is on MSC mode..to change to MSC go under menu settings and usb mode..then make sure your device is plug in to the computer..Then go to programs - accesories - windows explorer, find the SanDisk in my computer, go to media, music and delete them from there.
Either under sync panel in your windows media player it will show your music when it's connected. just click the plus signs for what song you need to get rid of, right click and click delete.

We had the same problem with Windows XP. We found some help on the Sandisk web site. On the device go to the Settings menu, then USB. We changed from AutoDetect to MSC mode and everything is working again. Our computer saw all of the songs on our computer fine. Some of the old songs on the Sansa didn't show up on the detect list in Windows Media Player, but they were still on the device.

You have to make sure that the device is on MSC mode...then make sure your device is plug in to the computer..Then go to programs - accesories - windows explorer, find the SanDisk in my computer, go to media, music and delete them from there.
Either under sync pane in windows media player it will show your music when it's connected. just click the plus signs for what song you need to get rid of, right click and click delete.

try connecting in MSC mode of the USB settings - then using windows or mac or linux to delete files. In MSC mode the player should be recognised as a bog standard usb storage device. The files are have the hidden attribute set, so you must enable show all files in Windows or you won't see the Music directory they are in.

two suggestions:
put player in msc mode by going to the settings menu and choosing USB mode, then change to MSC
then plug in and open the player in My Computer menu
if you do not see songs on the player, back out and format player at the drive letter prompt, then add songs either manually, drag and drop to the player (not the music folder!)
or sync the songs with windows media player 10 or 11

You have to first change the USB mode on the player to MTP (as opposed to MSC). Forget using the Windows Media Player (yeah, I know). Go to Explorer, go to drive E or whatever your Sansa is listed as....open it and it will show different types of folders. Go to MUSIC folder. The songs are listed and you can delete, e.g. delete mp3 and keep WMA of the same song, or whatever else you want to delete.
