It is possible that the thermostat for the steam is not operating or need to be reset. There are 3 in the silvia machine. Remove the four screws on the top to gain access. Unplug machine before doing any maintenance first.
Rig wand! you mean steam wand? Take lid off and see if the knob clib connection to the steam valve is come out. Otherwise, possibly the steam valve's portioning washer is hardened and stuck. BUt sound slike shaft is broken or lost connection to the valve
The pressure is from zero to the opening pressure of the OPV. This should be about 10 bar when the OPV is cold. When the OPV is hot, the OPV spring is hot and a little more flexible. The OPV opens at about 8.5 bar when hot.
When the wand valve is open, you can get a lot of steam or water with not a lot of pressure in the boiler.
Take the lid off the reservoir and watch the hose from the OPV. It's the short hose.
Pull a shot with less than usual coffee in the basket.
If you see water flowing from the hose, the OPV opened.
If it did not open and there is little extract in your cup, buy a new pump.
Sounds like the machine needs to be descaled and the boiler and element needs to be checked. Was the machine left on for a long time? If yes then the element needs to be replaced.
I had the same problem. I took the steam wand off, and checked for steam out of the unit. It was OK, so I stuck a thin wire up through the steam wand and dislodged what look like pieces of a green washer or O-ring.
In short...the wand was plugged.
