Dark picture TV is over ten years old. TV just started to take longer to come on. Picture is dark, lacking clarity and fades, gets darker towards outside of screen. At one point lost picture and sound, waited ten minutes, turned TV on and picture came back with same poor quality. No adjustments to contrast, sharpness, tint, brightness, etc. seem to help. Could this be the bulbs or a "power pack"?

First, average life on these sets is about 3 to 4 years at best and only boards are sold so even if you can pin point the board (no individual parts are sold) it is likely if will not get fixed and doing so is a bad investment as all the boards are now old.

One of two possible issues:

1. Lamp is nearing end of life and may dim just before total failure.

2. A few of these models have 2 mirrors(check with Mitsubishi to see if yours is one) A large mirror in back (never gives a problem and do not try to clean it. Some idiot in these sets used a small mirror inside that the optical unit shines the picture into (wedge shaped mirror and small) and it is facing up----the fans intake air from the front of the set around this mirror--it gets coated with lots of dust---Picture can loose up to 70% of its brightness and clarity if that mirror is dirty--looks like 20 year old set .

If you do not wish to check with Mitsubishi GOOGLE THE MODEL NUMBER with "mirrors" to see.

Plasmas will get darker and darker over their life, just part of phosphorus based technologies. but if it is VERY dark, dark enough the picture is not watchable, it sounds like the transformer is malfunctioning. The voltage to the panel has dropped to the point that the electron count has dropped. You may want to call HP support to begin with, this may be a known issue for them.

have you tryed adjusting the picture in the menu section! this may help!! or on back of tv is adjusters those may help as well.

the color in my tv is a little faded when theres dark scenes on cant really see picture. Red and Blue really fade into picture

TV does not display picture on whole screen....it has three smaller colored rings with the picture inside of it
