The remote to our TV is caput - has been for years - finally threw it away in a cleaning fit a few months ago - anyhow - now I can't make the tv go to componant 1 or componant 2 or input - so my DVD/VCR player will not come on when connected to tv and I bought my husband a new pac man game that is supposed to connect to the yellow and white input's and it won't work on that tv either. How can I make the tv go to the input stage with the little buttons on the front?

Unless the TV has an input select function available from the front panel buttons, you're out of luck. Many sets only have basic functions through the front panel and rely on the remote for the rest. The original remote had a button to switch the inputs and now you need it back.

The only sure solution is to buy an exact replacement remote. There are several companies online that can probably provide one. They tend to be costly, though. Your other option is to look for a universal replacement that has a button marked "input" or "tv/av" or similar, and hope it will work with your set.

One more option is to get an RF converter, available at TV retailers, Radio Shack, etc. This device takes the audio and video signals from another device and converts it to a channel 3 or 4 output signal that your TV can tune in. Then you can just put the TV on that channel. It would work, but you lose some picture quality and possibly stereo sound effects.

Sorry I don't have a happier answer. Thanks for using Fixya.

Vizio 50" plasma TV less than two years old - picture color is wrong. Shut off TV for a few minutes, color corrects and then problem starts over again.

call the manufactuer right away if the warranty just ran out a few months ago they will probably still honor it, but first disconnect your cables and reconnect them make sure they are on good and tight. other than that not much you can really do good luck

Big black box on screen

It has something to do with the closed captioning. He must have hit the closed caption button on your remote. You need to either turn the closed caption off or make another selection under closed captioning like cc1 cc2. Just keep making selections until the box goes away.

Cracked LCD

No, but if you get a storm with lightning and have many electronic items that are dead, they will cover all of them! The INS companies never come to your house to look. You call a TV repair shop for "dead lightning" receipts. Say you broke the screen moving it after it died.
If you purchase any electronics with an American Express card then American Express will cover it for 1 year after the Manufacturer warrenty expires!

CRACK LCD TV SCREEN

The LCD panel will have to be replaced. Contact a Philips service agent for cost.

The cost of a replacement screen will probably outweigh the cost of a replacement TV.

If you have household insurance, it should cover accidental damage.

Cracked plasma tv screen

I had one broken a few months ago. I got a couple quotes.. it was about $200 less then a brand new one. I'd just buy a new one.

For the new TV I'd pickup a screen protector for it. My son threw a toy at my TV the other day and I nearly had a heart attack from the flashbacks. Thank God I picked up one of these a few weeks earlier. It stopped it. http://www.tv-armor.com

Front Panelbuttons

You probably should replace the button matrix. They are usually less than $20. You do have to take off the back of the set ( makes sure its unplugged) It's also possible that the switch has collapsed, whoch can be replaced but needs some soldering skill. Google RCA parts or try herman electronics. You will need your model number to get the correct parts.
