Faulty display on Uniden 2.4 ghz digital phone. Unit is about four years old. Is this repairable or should I get a new phone?

  • Anonymous Feb 02, 2010

I think that I resolved my problem. I disconnected the battery and reinserted it after a few seconds. The display returned to normal. The battery indicator shows a partial discharge. The phone is back on the charger and functioning normally.

Some of the Uniden phones cannot take a fall. The solder connection to the LCD display sometimes breaks. Just resolder and it should work fine.

Hi there, Your new phones will not interact with a base station from another brand of phones. If you want to use one base station, you can buy single phones of the same model and brand and those will interact with the original base station. Your new phones will not connect to the old base station Sorry, Alex

The display only shows bars. Is my phone on the way out? It will be 5 yrs old in June. It is a 2.4 digital expandable system, model # DCT 6485.

sorry but i think it is time for you to get a new phone. Most phones these days are 5.8 or 6.0, which is much better than your 2.4. A new phone would mean better reception, more clarity, etc. They're always on sale at radioshack

Hope this helps! please rate how i did

Short battery life

The manufacturer recomends replacing the batteries every year. I have several phones that have had the same batteries for 2 or more years, but the time they hold a charge starts to drop after a year or so.

AT WHAT SITE CAN I DOWNLOAD A FREE COPY OF THE USER MANUAL OR INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR A UNIDEN POWERMAX 2.4 GHZ DIGITAL SPREAD SPECTRUM?

Uniden should have their own site, if not call your local PC repair shop and ask them for the manufacturers site.
