Kenmore 52552100 Side by Side ice in bottom of freezer

I have a Kenmore 52552100 Side by Side fridge / freezer and there is ice forming in the bottom of the freezer. Eventually water leaks out onto the floor I think maybe when it defrosts. If you remove the ice from the freezer it comes back in a few days.

Anyone have any advice?

I had the same problem. And after some research I went at it yesterday. I unplugged the refrigerator and removed the bottom two racks in the freezer. The tray at the bottom of the defrost assembly was caked with ice. I didn't know where the drain plug was. I started melting the ice using a hair dryer. I also carefully broke up the ice using a knife. After the ice was removed I could locate the drain hole. I used a copper wire shaped like an "L" and tried chipping away at it with no luck. I then poured a 1/3 of a cup of very hot water in the tray and let it sit. After a few minutes I used the hair drier again and soaked up the water with a paper towel. I added another 1/3 cup of hot water. I noticed the ice in the drain hole was beginning to melt and used the wire again. Finally, I got my compressed air gun and blew out the hole. I wanted to just blow the water out of there but it must have shot the ice out into the evaporator tray. I poured more hot water in the tray and it disappeared immediately into the evaporator tray (checked the tray and could see water). I then blew out the hole with compressed air and dried the area with the hair drier. Plugged in the refrigerator, replaced the baskets and was done. Whole thing took 30-45 minutes. No idea why it clogged up in the first place but if it happens again I should be able to cut 10 minutes off the time.

Freezer over freezing too much ice at the bottom and fridge side not as cold.Kenmore side by side

If there is no cooling at all , before we go further we must confirm the first step of confirming the compressor and gas pressure. So shut off the fridge and leave it off while you clean and check the evaporator for frost. If frost is seen it is a good indication as the compressor is working with sufficient gas within.
Now after about 6 hours plug in the fridge to start. Observe cooling to happen in about one hour and ice to from under three hours.
However if Ice forms then observe the fridge for about 24 hours for cooling to continue and the fridge to cut off . If not the auto defrost timer, or the thermostat must be checked.
If defrost timer works but frost keeps forming check while the compressor shuts if the heaters are working, check continuity of the heaters.
So try this test from the outside and make your observations so that we come to the solution.

My refrigerator is a side by side kenmore and the freezer over freezes and too much ice build up at the bottom and some tomes the refrigerator side is not as cold as it should be.

Since the fridge has cooling the compressor /gas pressure is good.It is possible that the frost has blocked the cool air flow from the freezer to the fridge area.
To confirm shut off the fridge, Now after about 6 hours plug in the fridge to start. Observe cooling to happen in about one hour and ice to from under three hours.
Earlier make sure that the thermostat was set to normal mode for freezer and fridge.
The defrost timer is located at the bottom, check the connections to the heaters and the thermostat.

Frozen vents from freezer to fridge

you most likely have a defrost problem.or a clogged drain.you need to check your defrost heater defrost timer and thermostat.if ice is formed over drain then you can unclog drain with hot water.you will see when it is unclogged, water will run down drain without running over into bottom of freezer.
