Before I formatted my computers hard drive with windows xp my sansa clip was recognized. After the format I get the "Device unrecognized" pop up on the bottom right of my screen. I also looked at...

-Turn it OFF
-Put it in the HOLD position
-HOLD the center button IN while plugging into USB port, continue to hold for 5 to 7 sec even after plugged in.
At this point MY COMPUTER recognized it. And it worked.

He also had me to:

- go to WWW.MICROSOFT.COM
- In the upper right hand search bar, type in MTP PORTING KIT
I did this and downloaded the first one. Now my Sansa Clip work perfect. I wish I would have talked to him last week before I returned the last one, for the same reasons.

Hope this helps

Positive Feedback ALWAYS welcome :)

Old songs dont show

If you mean that the songs don't show up on the computer screen, then you probably need to change the USB MODE setting on the Clip. To do this, disconnect the Clip from the computer, then scroll to SETTINGS. Select Settings, then scroll to USB Mode and select it.. (If your Clip is very old it might not have a USB Mode listed under SETTINGS. If this is the case you should update your Clip's Firmware from the sansa website). Older computers recognize the MSC Mode while newer ones should recognize either mode. (except XP Professional doesn't seem to recognize the MTP mode). Songs entered in one mode won't show up on the computer if you're in the other mode. If you mean that the songs aren't showing up on the Clip's own screen then this solution probably won't help. By the way, I've never had any luck with the "auto detect" mode.

When i connect my sansa clip 2GB to my computer it doesnt show in My Computer section so that i can down load music into it

just figured mine out. turn your clip off. put the slider in the hold or lock position. press and hold the center button on your clip. continue to hold while attaching the usb to your clip. keep holding the center button as clip powers up. after appox. 12-15 seconds, your computer should read the clip. i am running windows xp and this is the ONLY way my comp. will read the clip. but it works great!! good luck!

Sansa Clip MP3

Go into My Computer and see if anything pops up once you plug the Sansa in. If it pops up open it up from there. Sometimes this kick starts an Mp3 to install itself.
