The knob is probably cracked, if you can pull it off, then you can try to see if you can turn the oven off with a pair of grips or pliers, if you can, then you just need to replace the knob, if not then you will have have to replace the switch.

Just moved and have diplomat built in single elec oven checked inside but cant find model or serial no. 2 knobs on left all symbols gone some push buttons middle and knob on right numbered 1 to 5

Hello -

Please double check for the model number. It will probably be on a small metal plaque on an edge of the oven door, along the outer edge of the oven opening, or in the oven interior. It could also be on the top of the oven and covered by cabinetry.

Undo the screws that hold the oven in and slide it out 6 inches. You may then find the metal plaque on the top of the oven. You may need the help of another person when you try to pull the oven out, so that the oven does not tilt forward and fall to the floor.

You MAY be able to identify your model of Diplomat oven from one of the images of Diplomat oven control panels here:
https://manuall.co.uk/diplomat-select-620-oven/
Page 6 (PDF document image 7). Note: Use the + icon to enlarge the image.

You may find the image of Diplomat oven knob markings here helpful:
https://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/forums/forum/public-support-forums/help-and-support/cooker-and-oven-forum/61498-diplomat-adp4890
Scroll down that page to the post dated 14-12-14 from pslewis333 to see the image.

Once you know which model of Diplomat oven you have, you may be able to find and purchase decals with the proper knob markings for your oven so that you can affix the decals around your oven knobs. Or, you could use heat resistant paint and a small, pointed paint brush to paint the markings on your oven. With either option, I suggest you seal the markings with a heat resistant clear sealant so that cleaning / scrubbing will not erase the markings.

Best wishes.

Both oven knobs have come off and although don't appear to be broken we can't seem to fix them back on properly

First try a layer of silver paper around spindle.

If not satisfactory then try a "No nails" type of clue.

I have a stove built in oven and had a power cut and it keep flashing 8888 and wont work

Hi.

After power cuts most ovens need resetting, for this reason 00:00 is flashing. The operation is described in the specific model's user manual. Most ovens reset either pressing or holding down for few seconds a Clear or On button, or holding down the main control knob.

Brief power cut but, timer light did not come back on. Cant use main oven. Top oven fine, isthere a trip switch?

Hello everytime the power goes off & then comes back on my oven won't work until I turn the knob for the timer around as far as it will go then back again. My oven is rather an old type but maybe if you reset the timer or turn it that may help. Or check the meter box as well. dee

I bought a new 4 burners gas. i tried to power the oven section because i wanted to bake cake, but it is not responding

Is the oven gas, if so you may find that it is fitted with a thermocouple (safety cut out) and to get the oven working you need to hold the knob in for around ten seconds after the oven is lit to activate the safety device. If it has a clock timer check it is not on auto and the time is set 'cos that will also stop the oven working.
All the best, pls leave feedback or repost with further information.

Oven does not turn off completely

You should pull the knob off and check that there is a metal liner in the knob itself. These sometimes fall out and the plastic knob does not turn the control properly. Get a new knob at your local appliance store.

Older gas range not heating up enough

Pull the knob off of the oven control and see if their is an ajustment. If the ajustment doesn't work then change the thermostat bulb. It goes for the oven to the back of the oven control know

Self-cleaning feature of GE Built-In Oven does not work

Simply set the Clock and Delay Start to the current time, then set the Stop Time ahead 3 hours. For example, if it is currently 8:00 then set the Stop Time to 11:00. The lights on the console will come on and the cleaning cycle will begin. At some point during the cycle when the oven gets hot enough, the lock mechanism is "fixed" and will not release until the cycle is complete.
