Check your language settings. We found that high def 804 and 814 did not have sound but if we changed the settings for 804 to Unknown 2 we got sound on that channel. Draw back, we did not get sound on all others. 814 we could not set. We have cable card we had to pay $100 for, and now they are forcing us to go with a digital box rental.... not worth 2 stations....

How do we scan/program in local tv channels. We bought an external antenna, but get no picture. Typically, there is a protocol for scanning channels into the set. Model is Sansui TVS2746B, and the set was...

Okay, does this tv have a built in DIGITAL tuner? Most tv's only have an analog tuner. You can tell the difference while you are changing the channels. If the channel indicates 2.1 or 2.2 and so forth, it is on a digital channel mode. If you change the channel and it indicated 2, 3, 4, etc. it is analog. If it has digital capability change the input until you see 2.1, 3.4 etc. If you cycle through all the inputs on the tv like, input 1 (TV) input 2(DVD) input 3(HDMI) and so forth and you never see the digital channel you most likely do not have a digital tuner. You will need to purchase a digital converter which will convert it to analog and you can watch it by placing you tv on analog channel 3 just like the old vcr's. Hope this helps and please don't forget to rate this solution.

Analog is cutting in and out while channel isn't being changed. Also, channels in analog have no sound at all. I tried to switch signal select to auto and the problem continues. what should I try next?

If you're only using analog audio, switch the signal selection to manual or analog.

If the source(s) that do this are primarily digital and they experience any problems the unit will want to dynamically switch to its analog path. If there's no analog path connected from the same device(s) you'll get silence every time it switches to analog. Observe the display when the problem occurs.

No sound on analog channels

I came across this problem yesterday. Digital channels sound... Analog no sound. press the tv button on your remote to change it from DTV/TV

go to any channel you want. press the menu button then go along to Sound setup. In there you will see quite a bit. I went down to an option in there.. it was sound input or something similar. this was set to BG I changed this to 'I' and the sound came straight back on. Hope this helps you out.

We have a Hitachi 42hds69 tv no picture but have sound. I have sound and picture on most channels, but on 2 digital channels, I have beautiful picture, but no sound. help!!

Here is what you need to do to fix this. Call Hitachi Global Storage Technologies & request for the firmware upgrade.
1-800-HITACHI (448-2244)

They will send it to you for free. You get a small SD card that plugs into the back of your TV just below the Cable Card Slot. I wouldn'd have known it was there unless the instructions in the mail packet told me so.

To determine if you need to upgrade go Into the Setup Menu. Then, Go to Software Upgrades & look at the software version. I had 0110.xxxx. the version I upgraded to was 0125.0000 & it fixed the audio problem on 7-1 & 11-1.

now all channels work great.

THANKS HITACHI!!!

Using an over the air antenna I get all channels but one.

I experience the same thing on a day to day basis. The key, is location of the antenna. Depending on where your antenna is located, determines if u can recieve local CBS analog v. digitial. I actually tried sticking aluminum foil to my old rabbit ear antenna legs. to my surprise, I even picked up digital channel I never knew existed. Besides, when the signal transmit in Digital, u are already prepared. Your local CBS afilliate station will be accesable on maybe 2 or 3 channels. example:

Channel 10 analog

Channel 10-1, 10-2, 10-3 digital HD will all broadcast the same programming.

hope this helps u out.
