Hi my mp3 samsung YP-Z5 (QB) player. i have formatting in ntfs mode. After turn off not responding. I see "SAMSUNG" in screen. After press key reset (key near usb) nothing of new. Pressing key ub (return) and put usb in pc.... don't see periferic. already install the drivers on my vista home premium but nothing happens, before I've format the yp-z5 in NTFS everything was fine, about compatibility with vista and everything.

Press and hold the bottom bar of the square ridged around the central button. This is the bar you press to play/pause and start up the player. It should have a power button symbol on it.

1. Connect the USB cable to your computer.
2. Press and hold the button while plugging the other end of the USB cable into the YP-Z5.
3. When the display shows USB Connected, release the button.
4. The device is now in USB mode.
5. When through, you must safely remove the USB device. Note: To safely remove the USB device, right click the USB icon ( ) in the bottom right of your screen, and then click Safely Remove Hardware.

i cannot turn on my samsung 1G mp3 yp-1 after last recharge.
How can i turn it on or reset it?

There is a reset button at bottom by the usb connection port, try pressing that i had similer problem downloaded the manual from samsung site which said try doing that so i did and now it seems to work fine

you may have to reformat the MP3 player by clicking on the drive its listed under and right click and go to Format. Formatting is done with FAT, not NTFS. This will remove any games or other data on it too. Sometimes the reset thing might work. In general, anything you erase from it using a computer should erase off the MP3 player too.

have you tried waiting a few minutes after this appears? because if you turn it on for the first time, or you have turned it on after resetting it, it takes a few minuted to load. so if you wait a few minutes the main screen should come up.

This might help getting it connected to the computer.

UMS mode allows the Z5 to interface to the computer as if it were a removable hard drive. You can then use Windows File Explorer to manage the files in the Z5.

To get into UMS mode, connect the Z5 to the USB port while simultaneously holding down the "return" button (the top of the square keypad) while connecting. This will put the player into UMS mode for that connection period only.

If you upgrade to the new firmware, you have the option of making it always connect in UMS mode.

The steps to install the latest firmware are:
(1) Download version 2.37 or newest of the Z5 firmware http://www.samsung.com.

(2) Unzip it to get the file named "Z5Update.dat".

(3) Disconnect the Z5 from the USB port.

(4) Reconnect the Z5 to the USB port while simultaneously holding down the "return" button (the top of the square keypad) while connecting. This will put the player into UMS mode for that connection period only.

(5) Open a File Explorer window, and find the YP-Z5 device.

(6) At this point, make sure the Z5 is fully charged and has at least 30MBytes of free space.

(7) Copy the file "Z5Update.dat" to the root directory of the YP-Z5 device.

(8) Now disconnect the Z5 from the USB port.

(9) The Z5 will display the option to upgrade to the new software, or to cancel.

(10) Select "Upgrade". This will power off the Z5.

(11) Connect the USB cable to the Z5. Now it will upgrade the firmware under USB power. DO NOT DISCONNECT THE USB UNTIL THE UPGRADE FINISHES. After finishing the upgrade, new firmware will be started automatically.

(12) Check the version information in the "Settings > System Info > Version" tab.

Now you can turn on the UMS only option.

Firstly, try "re-setting" the Z5 (ie micro switch) first. If this doesn't resolve, then firstly save a backup of all your files...then use the 'format' function (ie open My Computer, then open the YP-Z5 folder, then look for the Format function), which will clean out your entire memory, including hidden files. Then download the latest firmware update from Samsung website (download centre/mp3) and save newest firmware onto your Z5. Always update your Z5 with latest firmware (appropriate with your Windows OS). Good luck.

the reset button does not delete anything. so press it!!
