If the cavity metal of the oven is chipped or charred, it can rust. If it rusts through, the microwave would be ruined.

The metal will need to be sanded smooth and clean.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart or Lowe's.

Once that's done, be sure the oven is ventilating properly. A failure to ventilate can be due to blocked air vents, clogged filters or blocked duct work (on over the range models) or a problem with the internal fan.

I have a sharp microwave oven .had it for less than a year and the I inside base has bubbled and the paint is coming off is it still safe to use ?

It is always difficult to give specific advice when the oven cannot be viewed. Howeverwith the risk of paint getting into food replacement would be best. With this being a relatively new microwave it may be under warranty or Sharp may offer some credit for the purchase of a new one 1-800-237-4277

Can microwave paint ealing make you sick and if so how sick does anyone know

The paint would have to be a none toxic base, manufacture had a special white enamel paint just for microwave oven use that was available to the technician for interior repair. I don't recall seeing any warning labels on the bottle, but that was a long time ago.

A plastic container with hidden piece of metal caught fire in my Sharp r1490 and burned with a big flame. Several small holes were burned in the ceiling panel. Are we in danger of radiation exposure/ is...

The microwave oven is not safe to use, the fire has compromised the interior of the oven, if you run the microwave it will start to arc and eventually short out the magnetron, because the white enamel paint has been burned away. If you have holes in the ceiling there is danger of radiation leakage, for safety reasons the oven should be replaced.

I have a GE Profile Advandium 120 SCA1000DWW03 microwave. Recently noticed arcing or sparking at the base of the back wall when microwaving. Any ideas or solutions? Was purchased about 5-6 years ago

This is not good, the magnetron is arcing because there is exposed metal. The manufacture provides a special enamel white paint that insulates the interior to prevent this. I would contact GE or appliance repairman and not use the oven until this is dealt with, running the microwave unchecked will eventually burn out the magnetron.

The paint is coming off the inside of my ge microwave. is it safe to use?

No it is not safe! the white paint is a special type designed for microwave ovens that prevents arcing from the magnetron, because when you get down to bare metal it will cause problems. I would try and contact the GE manufacture or appliance repairman to see if he has the paint available for this kind of work.

Bottom of GE interior door microwave is burnt/rusted

just use sand paper to clean the rust then use some high temperature paint (sold in tins) eg spray paint but it must be labeled high temperature and spray 2 to 3 coats . your microwave should be safe again

LG microwave oven

As long as the waveguide itself isn't damaged, you should be able to replace the shield without issue... That shield only prevents food from splashing onto the waveguide itself and is not part of the microwave RF protection... Check your local hardware store for touch up paint.. shouldn't matter what brand as long as it contains rust inhibitors.. Good luck...

Microwave Oven Interior Paint

Yes, but if this is not fixed, it may flake off and get in your food, or allow grease or food particles to build up on the surface.

The loose paint should really be sanded off, at least.

Then when it's clean and dry, you can apply a little high-temperature appliance paint, available from department stores, home improvement centers, and appliance parts stores.
