When I go to view the list of Contacts on my Nokia N95 some lines are simply blank. In other words, there are some contact names on the list while others have simply disappeared.
I can click on a blank line but clicking on a blank line has no effect.
If I enter the Contacts list via the SMS message editor then the OK button is only shown if the list is filtered to include only non-blank lines.
As a possible solution I added a missing name/number to my Contacts again, but when that person calls me their name does not show up. This normally only happen on Nokia phones for duplicate numbers, which suggests that the number is still in there somewhere.
Other evidence that the "missing" name/number is still held somewhere in the database is that when I enter the abbreviated form of a "missing" name in Sms my handset does not report "Invalid contact details" as it normally does when it cannot find an entry. Instead it just does nothing.
I have also tried to update my address book from backed up copies. But since this problem showed up it has been impossible to sync my contacts to/from another phone, Nokia PC Suite, or Internet-based services like Zyb. So I'm pretty well stuck.
I have seen this problem mentioned on the Nokia Forum without a solution - http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/discussions/board/message?board.id=smartphones&thread.id=61363
Seems odd that even though Nokia are aware of it they don't know what's causing it
you assign the number into 2 or more different person/contact. try to delete the contact name and then dial the number to show which other contact that number is assigned to.

I suggest you use its usb cable and computer if you have them. download nokia pc suite from here and install it. start your phone connect it via usb cable and use the suite to get your contacts.
1) *#7370#, then enter 12345 (This is the default security code unless the user has changed
it) and then Yes. The phone then wipes all apps and phonebook contacts
on the internal memory.

to do this find out if your chinese phone has the bluethooth function. if it those, then simple turn it on and also meke sure it is in visible mode. activate that of the nokia phone which should also be in visible mode. pair the two phones with the same pass word. now go to your nokia's phone book and mark all the contact. choose send from the option list and then choose through bluethoot. your phone should search and the find the other device. incase send all those not work please try sending it one after the other.
I have recently purchased a Zumo 550 and successfully copied across selected phone book entries from a Nokia N95 without the need to use any additional apps:-
1) Assuming the N95 and Zumo are paired via BlueTooth
2) In N95 Contacts - use 'Mark' / 'Mark All' as necessary to select the contact entries you wish to transfer to the Zumo 550
3) In N95 Contacts - select 'Options' then 'Send Business Card' then 'Via Bluetooth'
4) Select the Zumo 550 device from the list of paired Bluetooth devices
5) Contact data is transferred from N95 phonebook to Zumo 550 phonebook
Interestingly, Garmin don't seem to list the Nokia N95 as being a supported device on their website, but the above process worked for me!!
