Hi....I am trying to use the GPS functionality in my new HTC P3300, when I click on Qick GPS, it gives me a download option, which when clicked gives connection failed I have GPRS already active on my sim, but still its not getting installed, I got MAPKing alongwith the handset, which is successfully installed but it is not able to check my current location, I think there is some initial setting which needs to be done. Please help me in this regard. My mail id is [email protected]
It sounds like your not able to access the internet on the device , try going to a normal webpage and then you can check if it loads it most probably wont. if that is the case you will need to contact your network to get the settings. ( Most networks will brand the device with there own name it can be helpful to find what this is before calling .) once you have done this then you will be able to download the quick gps settings . The special GPRS mentioned above is only the networks name for there GPRS service.
After this is done you may notice that you still arent able to use your GPS to find your location that is because you need to select the port that the GPS device is on
1.Tap start > settings
2. Tap the system tab
3. Select the GPS option
4. In the drop-down box that is entitled GPS program port select COM4
5. Tap Hardware tab , Gps hardware port should be ( None ) and baud rate 4800
6. Tap access tab and then select manage GPS automatically tickbox
7. Now click ok then x
You will now need to setup MAPKing to use COM port 4 as the GPS device this will now allow you to use your GPS properly
Hi,
download google maps it will work fine, i have the p3300 as well and it didn't worked with the initally installed app but is working fine with google maps,
but i don't have the driver CD since i bought it from somebody, can any body help me with the Drivers for htc p3300, i am unable to find it online.

Normal GPRS will not work, You need to get a special GPRS activated. If you are using Vodephone it will be Mobile Connect. Once you have that setup do a QuickGPS download to get Ephemeris data. Your Mapking will work now.
