Vizio LCD Green Pixels

Hello there...hopefully you can help. I have a 6 month old Vizio VW37L TV and recently the dark brown colors displayed on screen are outlined in bright green pixels. Very annoying. This seems to come and go and is mostly noticed when watching TV, not movies through the HDMI. Vizio customer support just suggested resetting the TV settings. Already did that. Any ideas?

I have green and purple pixels which progressively gets worse as the tv warms up. It becomes unwatchable.

I have the same issue with green pixels randomly appearing along the outlines of shapes and in the black border of the lcd screen. I am taking mine back to Costco (purchased it about 45 days ago). It has to be a defective display if you ask me. (Vizio model VO42L)

I have the same problem. I called Vizio a couple months ago. They said it was a known power issue and to just unplug the t.v. and then plug it in again. That worked for a while, but they're back, now in purple in green. The Vizio customer service person told me (after 30 minutes) to take a photo of the screen and email it to [email protected].

I have bright green pixels on all the dark colors, especially on black. I have a Vizio VX37L, a year old. I suspect a power problem, how to fix it???

I have the same problem with the 40 inch. Green pixels in all black areas and it is progressively getting worse. Called Costco concierge service and the repair guy says a bad motherboard and video card that they will replace. Vizio is getting many of these calls.

I have the exact same problem. I have a 47" SV470XVT1A. I'm not sure if anyone is familiar with adobe photoshop, but it reminds me of the mask feature which highlights a similar color in a photo so you can alter just that selection. In the case of the vizio, there is a green pixely mask that glows and crawls over the dark images on my screen. I have a repair guy coming on Tuesday. Vizio seems to be familiar with the problem.

I have the same problem. I have a 47" Vizio SV470XVT1A. It reminds me of the mask feature of a photo editing program. Where you click on a spot in a photo and simiar areas/colors in the photo all start glowing in a pixely way. Same thing on the Vizio. It glows and crawls on the screen in a green mask on all of the dark colored images on the screen.

Ours just started doing the same thing (47"HDTV) on the dark colors. Second TV, the first had 2 gray lines that rolled up the screen. When this one goes back I will get another brand.

Our Vizio started doing the same thing after only three weeks, except it was also showing green pixel when we watched DVDs.  After checking this site and others and trying all the "tweaking" advised, I finally called Vizio's customer support.  They were extremely polite and tried to help over the phone, but had to send someone to the house to make the repair (anything 40 inches or larger earns a house call). The tech arrived on time and was extremely professional and pleasant -- he had to replace the daughter board and LVDS cables.  So far, so good.

I don't know if this will work for everyone with this issue, or even if it will work for me in the long run, but I seem to have resolved the issue (for now anyway) by taking the back off of mine and reseating all of the connections. Mind you, I don't have a warranty with mine as I bought it from a private party.

If you do this, do disconnect the power and A/V connections before you take the back off the set. Also, it's a good time to blow out any dust build up.

On another note, the pixeling effect is known as graphical artifacting, and can be caused by a faulty component or by heat. My set does get kinda warm, so I have moved it to a well ventilated location. So far so good!

Peace!

Color problems vizio lcd hdtv

If your tv has a custom settings area, first turn all color down on set so picture looks black and white. Now in color settings look for red blue and green color bars. Use the bars until the picture looks as true to black and white as possible. Also, try changing color temp.

Screen is displaying Red background color with glittery pixels effect around the figures

Please change the T-CON board, if it did not fix the problem, you may have a defective LCD Panel.

I have a vizio model vw37l hdtv 10a, got a hit on front panel that made a small crack which messed up the picture in that area, what part needs replacing?

The set is finished- sets like this use a display panel- it is the entire front screen unit and a sealed unit at that.

Cost of the entire panel unit even if available will cost more than the set did when new ( not counting labor to remove and replace it).

Buy a new set and note all LCD and Plasma like sets have this issue as the display panel is very fragile.

Red and green stripes (1" wide) running down the screen. Started with one red, now a green and another red. The stripes come and go at times, but most of the time they are present.

Hello,
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this is actually one of those known and predicted issues with LCD televisions. What these are called are "dead" lines of resolution aka dead pixels aka frozen pixels.
This is one of the flaws of LCD televisions, there is a completely random, unpredictable fail rate of LCD pixels in all panels, the likeliness of failed pixels varies depending on the quality of the panels used in the TV.
There really isn't a resolution to make them go away, if they are simply frozen, usually a light (VERY LIGHT) tapping of the screen at the top and bottom points of the line will refresh the pixels. If they are coming and going more often, it means that the panel is weak or malfunctioning in those areas and you need a new panel in the TV. Unfortunately it's quite an expensive repair, running at least $400 USD, if you are within warranty period (usually only 3 months for dead lines of resolution.. but it varies up to 12 months depending on the manufacturer) I would suggest calling Vizio and inquiring about a replacement TV. They generally won't allow a repair as it costs them less to simply give you a new unit all together.
My apologies for your bad luck!

Dark spot on right side of LCD screen in the shape of Illinois has appeared gradually over the past few weeks. Very noticable between commercial and when news channels show graphics/slides. Pixels are not...

In most of the case, the problem is a defective display LCD panel, this problem in some terminology is called PIXEL RETAINING, it means the pixels are locked up, there is no good permanent solutions for it, you have to change the LCD panel.
