Need to install HPPhotosmart printer to my laptop run with Window Vista

I HAVE XP PROFESSIONAL ON A DESK TOP, AND HAVE BEEN TRYING TO LOAD C5180 PRINTER FOR 3 WEEKS. I'VE TALKED TO HP AND MICROSOFT, WITH NO RESOLVE.I HAD 2 OTHE PRINTER PREVIOUSLLY, A 1210 AND 7960, AND HAD NO PROBLEM WITH EITHER. I GOT AND ERROR SOLUTION CODE 16255560 NOW LAUNCHING =X:\hpzdui01.exe-1XXX-fx:\DIVins??.DAT. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? HELP!!!! I am trying to connect my HP photosmart C5180 that I previously used on my desktop computer with Windows XP (worked great then). I now have Vista and have not been able to succesfully download the driver from the HP website. It installs for 5 minutes, then checks it and says it is not there. I print on it by chooosing HP 7200 series. I am not sure how that ended up an option on my computer. The scanner does not work at all. I use Vista pro. I installed the printer (network), used it for a while, worked fine but then disapeared. I deinstalled everything (softwares and drivers) and reinstalled it. The install wizard asks me for network or local. I choose network so that everyone at home can use it. I can see the C5180 availabe on the network and it even gives me its S/N. I choose it and click ok but next step doesn't work. I get a big red X saying that the printer is not available. I am not behind a firewall and even if I was, I have not changed my specs before and after the problem. It just stopped working.

i haven't been able to use our hp c5180 as a printer from my new laptop using vista either. Plus now when it prints from the desktop it's wired to it prints every other page in landscape on all projects.

We put vista on my lap top and since then my printer wont print. No errors come up it just send the job to my pending printer file and just sits there. PLEASE help fix the problem, this is so frustrating. Please let me know when it will be fixed. I have had my printer for two years and I love it. I installed the appropriate C5180 drivers from the Web site to use this printer with Windows Vista Home Premium. After a install, the computer recognizes the printer and works fine. However, if I turn the computer off and restart, the printer is no longer recognized by the computer...not even listed in the available printer list when I have gone into the control panel and checked the printer settings.
