Whenever a phone says Insert SIM means that its SIM reading IC is going or gone. It needs to be changed. Please have it checked and the IC changed.

First thing to do is to call your service provider to check if your phone is locked to their network. Alternativelyvensure the sim is rica'ed and wipe down the imsi the gold chip at the back of your simcard and test it again. If it's not the simcard then alternatively it could be the phone not reading the sim
If you removed the sim card while the phone was powered on, it's possible that the card was damaged or the data was corrupted.
