They have made it a bit difficult, eh?

Fortunately, there is a cleanup tool available from Adobe. It is for uninstalling all programs for CS4 but will definitely work for your version of Acrobat, too!

You can download it by going here

It is a bit tricky, so here are some instructions:

  1. Uninstall Acrobat prior to using the CS4 Clean Script.
    • On Windows XP, uninstall via Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
    • On Windows Vista, in the Programs And Features section of the Control Panel, select Uninstall a Program.
  2. Unzip the download. The download includes the script as well as a ReadMe file with detailed instructions.
    • On Windows, right click CS4InstallerDatabaseUtility.exe and select Run As Administrator.
Note: When the Run As Administrator option is not available double click on CS4InstallerDatabaseUtility.exe.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompt to complete the script. Once the script completes press Enter to exit.
  4. Choose your language by entering e for English or j for Japanese.
Note: It does not matter if you use lower or upper case letters anywhere in the script.
  5. Review the Adobe End-User License Agreement and enter y to Accept or n to Decline. Declining will exit the Adobe CS4 Clean Script.
  6. Choose your product to remove by typing the number to the left of the product name and press Enter.
  7. To confirm you wish to remove the product type y or type n to proceed back to the installed products list and press Enter.
  8. -->
  9. Restart your system.
  10. Now you can proceed with your new installation!

I assume you are having issues with Adobe Reader and want to start over. Yes, uninstall the program first and then reinstall.

  1. Exit from all applications.
  2. Uninstall Acrobat.
  3. Search for and delete any .tmp files on your computer.
    1. Delete the following items, if present, from the Documents and Settings/[user profile]/Local Settings/Temp folder:
    2. Folders:
      • _istmp[x].dir
    • Files:
      • _ins[x]._mp
      • _inst32i.ex_
      • _inz[x]._mp
      • _isdel.exe
      • _istmp[x].dir
      • _setup.dll
      • _setup.lib
      • _wutl[x].dll
      • ~ins[x].~mp
        where "[x]" is any number
  • Then reinstall the new Reader program.

My system dosnot down load abode reader 9.3 version on windows xp operating system

I hope there's no system/application conflict. If your system meets the adobe reader system requirements. then uninstall it, run a registry cleaner, restart your computer and reinstall the program (adobe reader).
[click on the respective links if you need to read or if you need to download the respective applications]

You can also use Fixit Reader (click here to download foxit reader) instead of adobe reader in case the problem persists.

    Good luck.

Down loaded adobe 9 did not work removed then down loaded adobe 8 which i had before now that will not work error reads application configuration is incorrect tryed reinstalling still no good, but ialso...

ok, first you must full uninstall adobe 8 & 9 because I believe either they clashed at one point or one is just not properly installed. Once they are fully removed, reinstall abode 9. It should work properly now.

Aobe won't let me use user guide

What version is the Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer? If it is version 9 and you are trying to see the user guide from within a browser window (like Internet Explorer), you will have problems because of a known issue with Adobe Acrobat Reader 9. If the above is true, you will need to uninstall Adobe Acrobat Reader 9 and install Adobe Acrobat Reader version 8.1.3
(Click Here) to download for version 8.1.3. If you are unsure how th uninstall version 9 and install version 8.1.3, please post a response to this an I will give you details based on your operating system.

When trying to open adobe reader 8.1.1 get following message: patch package could not be opened. verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify...

it sounds like the application that is needed to uninstall the version 8 is corrupted or missing. Try reinstalling version 8 first then uninstall it before loading version 9. If you can reinstall version 8 and it asks you if you want to repair or install, choose install to get all of the files back before uninstalling it again. Always uninstall from add/remove programs. If deleting it from program files instead of uninstalling it correctly it will cause problems.
