Trying to install windows 7. said I needed service pack 1. downloaded it. retried to install windows 7. got same pop up. How can I install windows 7?

Are you installing within Windows? If so reboot your system with the Windows 7 system disc inside your cd rom, you should see message that says Press Any Key To Boot From CD at this point press any key. The system will load the installation files the it will ask you if you want to install or perform recovery you will select install, then it will ask you if you want to format your hard drive. Formatting your hard drive will erase the entire drive so back up any desired files. This will successfully install windows 7.

When I look at the ASUS site to download drivers for Windows 7 - there are none. So if you are trying to install drivers from the CD, you do not need them for Windows 7. There is a utility which you can install - check this site.

there is no such thing as "service pack 3 for Windows 7".

Windows Xp - sp1, sp2, sp3

Windows Vista - sp1, sp2

Windows 7 - sp1

Windows 8 - 8.1

Could you please tell me that you haven't installed the customization pack & that you have Windows 7?

Basically, it involves un-installing .NET Framework Version 1.1 Service pack
1.

Then download and use (Run as Administrator) the Windows Installer CleanUp
Utility, and remove all references to .NET Framework Version 1.1 Service
pack 1 (only!).

Then reinstall .NET Framework Version 1.1 Service pack 1:
