"Failed to connect to player, Operation timed out"

When I open the music manager, the icon for the player appears, but when I try to clic on it, it says "reitreving database". 10 secondes later, the message "Failed to connect to player, Operation timed out" appears.

Since the first time it does it, the player tells me there is no files in it (it was full last time it worked!) when I put it on.

Is there anything I can do????

I would recommend wiping and rebooting your player:

Windows only.... Please post if you are not using windows...

Open My Computer with your Rio plugged in.
Right click on your Rio player and click on format.
Leave the default values - if it asks you something then use your initiative.
Then click on format.
Then when it has finished formatting go to your firmware (can be downloaded from: http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/support/rio/product.asp?prodID=112).
Follow the instructions and then it should load the firmware onto your player.
When it has done then your player should (in theory!) work properly.

Hope this helps

Music management rca th1100

The Music Management CD that comes with your player contains all of the necessary software components you need to make your player work properly.

These components enable you to transfer files from your computer to your player.

Inserting the included CD into CD drive:

Turn on your computer and place the Music Management CD that came with your player into your computer.

Important: Don\'t connect the USB cable to the PC or the player before or during the CD installation.

If the setup screen does not appear, double-click My Computer, double click your CD drive icon, and double click Install to run the installer.

Cd drive has stopped working

Will need some more information. It could be anything from a loose connection on the inside of the computer to a failed drive. When you open the My Computer icon, is the icon for the drive displayed? If not, does the CD drive appear in the device manager? (Right click on the My Computer icon and choose Manage on the menu to pops up, select Device Manager and look for CD/DVD drives). If the drive does not appear in these areas, then I'd start by checking all of the connections to the drive (power cable and ribbon cable) and motherboard. If that does not fix it, check the BIOS to be sure that the on board IDE is enabled. After doing all of that, if you still get no response from the drive, then it is probably time to replace the drive itself.
