Compaq evo desktop just put windows xp on it. all good except it wont allow me to change screen resolution from 640 by480 pixels and the color is only 4 bit.thanks guys
Give a little more specific information about the evo model... there's a good chance if windows isn't doing anything good with the color or resolution that it isn't able to identify the video card(or its capabilities) at all. Find a model number from your computer and we'll get you the right video driver, that should fix things.Give a little more specific information about the evo model... there's a good chance if windows isn't doing anything good with the color or resolution that it isn't able to identify the video card(or its capabilities) at all. If the slider will not move, your monitor may not be capable of accepting the higher resolution. Check the kind of color you are using, medium, true of highest.

I would say that if the display was working, as Win2000 is nor driver based there would be an image on the screen. So I would say it is not a driver issue, it is a hardware issue and requires a screen. There are no drivers available anyway. Check out ebay for spare parts, you may fins a screen on there for not a lot of money. The keyboard issue is probably a virus. Hope that helps
on the standby screen right click on the blank space, this show a window about appearance. Select settings tab and choose the right screen resolution...i will advice you to use 1024 by 768 pixels this will solve your problem.
Should you have questions feel free to update this post.
A computer monitor is
made of pixels (short for "picture element").
Monitor resolution is measured
in pixels, width by height. 640 x 480 resolution means that the screen is
640 pixels wide by 480 tall, an aspect ratio of 4:3. With the exception of
one resolution combination (1280 x 1024 uses a ratio of 5:4), all aspect ratios
are the same.
Hope this initial information helps. Let me hear from you again for any clarifications.
