USB Pen or stick drives usually use the letters "F" or "G" drives on your computer. If these drive letters are being used, the USB drive will not be available. Also, if this is the first time you are using the USB drive, it is possible the drive is not formatted. Although this is unlikely.
I will outline instructions below to use the Disk Management tool in windows to see if the drive shows all the drives connected to your computer. If your computer is recognizing the drive as you describe. I am confident USB Pen drive will show up in disk management. You may be able to assign a drive letter and make the drive visible in you my computer window.
The directions for using disk management are listed below. A note of caution, do not make any changes on you Disk 0. or "C" drive, as this is you main hard drive that starts your computer.
Right click on you “My Computer” Icon
A menu will open
Chose “Manage”
The Computer Management window will open
The Computer Management window is broken down into 3 sections. The first section on the left side of the window shows a menu. Disk Management is on the lower portion of the menu. The right side is separated into two sections, top and bottom. The top portion shows a list of active drives on the computer. The lower portion shows all drives connected to the computer. CD or DVD drives that have no disk will not show as active drives on the top section, but can be seen in the lower section.
The lower shows each drive, their drive letter and status. The left section will have small boxes showing drive numbers. Drive 0 is usually your main hard drive. To the right of the smaller section is a larger section which shows the driver letter, size of the driver and condition (if working correctly will show “healthy”) This is the area you can right click and get a menu that will allow you to: open, explore, mark the partition as active, change the driver letter, format the drive or delete a partition.
In this area, you can assign the USB drive any drive letter that is not being used and this will make it visible in windows. A drive this is having a problem may show that it needs to be formatted. This can be done from this window as described above.
Please follow these directions and see if you can make your drive visible. If you have any questions about the instructions or need further assistance, feel free to reply to this message and I will assist you further.
