I had the same problem with my Emerson mp3 player. Computer didn't recognize that the mp3 player was plugged in. Since they recommend using Windows Media Player, I went to Windows Media Player and it showed that a USB Device was connected. when I clicked on that, I was asked to label the USB device to read Emerson EMP313-4. If you get this far, you are then able to Sync music from Windows Media to the mp3 player. I still don't know how to copy actual mp3 files from my computer to the mp3 player, but as long as I have some way to put music in there, I'm fine with that. Hope this helps you.

My ipod not recognized by itunes in order to reinstall the software

Connections b> The USB cable must be securely connected both to the iPod and to the selected USB port on the computer. Reattach the cable at both ends, and click "Computer" in the start menu to see if the iPod is shown connected to the drive for that USB port. b> Drivers b> If the drivers of the computer responsible for the USB interface are out of date, malfunctioning or incorrectly installed, that may also cause the iPod to not be recognized by the computer. If this is the case, the device may not appear in iTunes and there may be an exclamation point next to the device in Device Manager. b> Software b> The latest version of iTunes is recommended to best communicate with the various models of iPod. Go to the iTunes website or click "Help" and "Check for Updates" in iTunes to install the most recent update. Further, the computer must be running Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 for PCs, or OS X v.10.4.11 or later for Macs. b> Battery b> The iPod's battery must have sufficient charge to be recognized in iTunes; charge it either via USB connection or another power source if the indicator shows a low battery. Once the battery has charged, try to connect the iPod to the computer via USB cable again.

When i installed the media player into my computer. i get a little screen saying usb device not recognized. one of usb devices attachedto this computer has malfunction, and windows does not recognize it....

Hi, smpk4083 mp3 player not recognized by the computer
Why is my smpk4083 mp3 player not being detected by my computer when I connect it?

This may be caused by one of the following:
1. Minimum system requirements were not met.
2. Corrupted drivers.
3. Computer restrictions.
4. Power issue.

To resolve this issue, try the following solutions:

SOLUTION 1 - For brand new player or first time connecting to this computer.

For Windows XP users: verify the following operating system requirements are met.
- Windows XP SP2 or higher
- Windows Media Player 10 or higher

Download and install the latest Windows Media Player if it's not installed.

For Windows Vista users: If the player is seen in My Computer when using MTP mode, but not showing in Windows Media Player.
- Download the hotfix from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939211.
- Run the hotfix.

For MAC users, see smpk4083 mp3 player not recognized by a MAC OS

NOTE: If you are trying to connect to a Computer at work that is part of a network, there may be user right restrictions that are set to disable access to new hardware or stop any program installations. You may need to check with your IT administrator to see if this is causing the problem.

SOLUTION 2 - Refresh the driver

STEP 1 - Connect the smpk4083 mp3 player to the PC
The screen on your player should turn on, show 'Connected' and indicate the battery charging or full.
- If the player does not turn on try other USB ports or on another computer if one is readily available. Ensure you are connecting directly to the computer USB port and not to a USB hub.
- If there is nothing showing on the screen and the player does show up in as a storage device in an explorer window, then the screen is just not working.

If you receive the error "USB Device Not Recognized" on the computer, the player is most likely failed. Additional troubleshooting is unlikely to correct the problem.

.

STEP 2 - Check under Device Manager
1. Right-click My Computer, and select Manage.
Image
2. Click Device Manager on the left pane.
Image

NOTE: smpk4083 mp3 Players can connect to your computer in MSC or MTP mode. Exceptions are smpk4083 mp3 player Connect and smpk4083 mp3 Express which only use MTP mode. MTP mode is the recommended and default method for smpk4083 mp3 Players when used with Windows OS.

The smpk4083 mp3 player will show up on Device Manager's right pane as:
1. USB Mass Storage device (if the player is set to MSC)
2. Portable Device (if the player is set to MTP mode)

If there is a yellow exclamation point (!) or question mark (?) beside the device, try to refresh the drivers.

STEP 3 - Refresh the drivers
1. Right-click the entry with the error mark, select Uninstall.
2. On the top menu, click Action then select Scan for hardware changes.

NOTE: If a device with yellow exclamation point (!) continually appears and disappears, then the player is most likely failed. Additional troubleshooting is unlikely to correct the problem.

Hope it helped.

Have a nice day,.

I have the philips go gear hdd1830 and it wont turn on. I tried to connect it to my computer and it does not show that it is connected to the computer and no charge as well.

Hi it sounds like the onboard battery is flat, so will not swich on. You have also stated the player is not recognized by the PC and not charging.
Try another USB lead and also try another USB port, either of these could be at fault.

MWZ-S615F will not charge or connect

I'm sure it's the cable that's not functioning properly. Mine started doing the same thing and after wiggling and adjusting the cable inside the MP3 itself, the computer finally recognized it and I was free to charge and add music. Also you can try to connect it to a different USB port on your computer. The beeps however are news to me, unless I just never noticed. One piece of advice is to never let the MP3 battery die, because after I let it happen mine began to experience more severe problems.

Samsung YP-K5JAB

Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware.
