I have a problem with my GPS with its signal. It is not going any further than this message.."Waiting for GPS". I dont know if I could reset my GPS. If so please advise me about my further actions.
From the Main Menu press the button underneath the spanner>Demo and deselect the first square if it is ticked>Save.
With your device turned off, press and hold the "OK" button in between the arrows and press the "On" button.
On screen you should see the "Maintenance Menu". Scroll to "GPS menu" using the arrow keys and select it using the "OK" button. Select "Perform a GPS cold start". When this has finished, press the "Home" key twice (the one with the three lines on it). Turn the unit off, then go outside, raise the antenna, and turn it on again. Keep it still for 10-15 minutes and the unit will start to pick up GPS again.

Reset your GPS and problem will be solved . If resetting didn't solve the problem , then i advice you to replace it with a new one if you still have the guarantee . Click here to know TomTom GPS resetting .
Did you make a reset? that could be a trouble with the signal then like the mobile sometimes by retreiving the battery if you have it during a minute and put it on again my brings the solution (pragmatic).
Go to TomTom Home on your computer and do a update for your unit. In the update list you should see a GPS quick fix which helps the TomTom's aquire a signal faster. Hope this helps.
You essentially have to reset the GPS. You can do this by holding the power button down for at least four seconds to get the Tom Tom to fully shutdown. You will know you successfully did this if you hear the tom tom sound and a warning message appears during startup. It then seems to work just fine after that.
first, go out from building ;) if doesnt help, then update you navcore, do not delete any thing you dont know. hold pin reset for 10 sec. if doesn't help, bring for waranty
The waiting for signal message just means it can’t get satellite reception where you are. you most likely need to utlize the Optional external GPS antenna. This is a common problem in the midwest and southwestern states. if this has happened since you bought it. the internal antenna couldve come loose. Which means you may have got a defective unit from the factory. But my guess is you just need to utilize the external antenna.
its like thinking of a cell phone and how some people dont always get a signal. now in gps it needs 3x the signal. with 1/8th of the communications satellites cell phones have. so as more and more people get tom toms the harder it is for each unit to work, and less signal can be partitioned to your unit at the time of use. where as cell phones only need 2 towers, GPS needs 4 satellites.
I had this problem (waiting for a valid GPS signal). I did a factory reset and the unit started working
again (yes, I lost all my settings, but what good is a GPS unit that
just sits there waiting for a valid GPS signal?). To do a factory
reset, go to menu -> change preferences -> Reset factory
settings.
cleaned the card.
