Does the memory on the P4M800-M7 A motherboard have to be installed in matching pairs? I am upgrading a 512MB machine. I have purchased 1028. Do I just replace the 512 or can I add the 1028?
No. Just make sure that you two RAM modules have the same specifications (speed, clock).
If you don't know about that, then simply insert both RAM modules and start your computer. If Windows loads, then right click on MyComputer and go to properties. If it shows 1.5GB then you are OK.
If the computer fails to start or you hear multiple beeps it means that they are incompatible.
Replace the 512 module and insert the new one and try again.
Always remember to turn off the power and unplug the cable from the power supply before replacing RAM modules.
